Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman wouldn't guarantee that two U.S. military veterans captured in Ukraine won't face the death penalty in an exclusive interview Monday.

#6 Mercenaries no, but under the Geneva Convention volunteer foreign legion fighters are considered POWS.

These guys are less mercenary than the service members who were sent topple iraq. That was a war for oil, they were taking a paycheck to go fight on the wrong side.

I doubt it.

Did those captured mercenaries help anything? Nope, they're just zits on the butt of a larger problem. The wannabe superheroes running around the globe to turn men into corpses, women into widows, boys into cripples, and girls into prostitutes for whatever noble cause du jour. Now they get to do the noble thing and die the mercenary's death... or not.

It really is a case of doing unto others. Something of the conundrum is the dilemma.
