Justice Dept. Expands Jan. 6 Probe with Fresh Subpoenas

The Justice Department's investigation of the Jan. 6 attack ratcheted up Wednesday as federal agents dropped subpoenas on people in at least two states, in what appeared to be a widening probe of how political activists supporting President Donald Trump tried to use invalid electors to thwart Joe Biden's 2020 electoral victory.

"FBI officials confirmed to The Washington Post that agents conducted court authorized law enforcement activity Wednesday morning at two locations " one the address of Brad Carver, a Georgia lawyer who allegedly signed a document claiming to be a Trump elector, and another the Virginia home of Thomas Lane, who worked on the Trump campaign's efforts in Arizona and New Mexico."

One can hardly tell that there are Dems in the room; what the public sees is 90 percent Trump lawyers and other Trumpers, election officials and stuff... all testifying under oath against a minority of Trump lawyers who, along with Trump, very obviously broke several Fed laws while trying to stay in power.

But that's mere substance. Not "the Narrative" that more important to rwingers than even democracy itself, and the rule of law. More important because you can't "own a lib" with votes as easily as you can with a good Narrative.

You know, a Big Lie that is falling apart in front of their faces. Or would be had they the courage, and the patriotism, to watch and listen to the facts of what actually happened, according to Trumpers on the stand.

I've noticed that attempted "explanation" is all the GOP leadership seems to be able to come up with in order to contradict the under-oath testimony of Republicans, many of whom were in the Trump White House.

The lameness of the attempted "explanation" is quite a good endorsement of the work the Committee is doing.

...Federal agents searched the Virginia home of former Trump Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark on Wednesday morning, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the activity.

It was unclear which federal agencies conducted the search, but one neighbor who witnessed the law enforcement activity said they saw officials entering and exiting the Lorton, Virginia, home after arriving there early Wednesday. A spokesperson for the Fairfax County, Virginia, Police Department told ABC News that its officers assisted with law enforcement activity at the house, but deferred to the Justice Department for further comment.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C., said they "can confirm there was law enforcement activity in that area yesterday," but declined to comment on specific individuals or the nature of that activity....

These subpoenas were dropped by DOJ not the J6 Committee. The DOJ investigation will continue beyond the November election.

DOJ, eh? A bunch of these targets are learning that unlike for Congressional subpoenas they cannot easily dance around a subpoena from a law enforcement agency. Many of these knobs had better lawyer up and lube up...
