Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, June 27, 2022

A woman lies dead on a motel room floor, her naked body hunched over a blood-soaked towel. She died alone, abandoned by her lover after a failed self-induced abortion in 1964. Her name was Gerri Santoro. But when a shocking photo of her then unidentified body was published in a national magazine, she became a defining symbol of the abortion rights movement in the United States.

Why it wasn't just about what has been dismissively labelled "identity politics" back in 2016;
why when so many women said, "I'm with her," they were really saying, "She's with me";
and why when so many women said "It's her turn,' they were really saying, "It's our turn".
Well, no more:

Damn, if only someone warned us of this issue. Oh, wait, turn the sound on and wow she literally warned us.

What I like about this clip is to watch it on mute--because that moment when the anger overtakes her at the failure of journalists to raise abortion as a presidential debate issue ... I feel @HillaryClintonc on this one.

"Not one question" on abortion in 8 debates. I remember.

2016 wasn't an outlier either. In the 2020 primaries, it took Kamala Harris to point out from the debate stage, while Bernie and Joe looked uncomfortable, on how little had been said about abortion during 6 debates despite all the discussion about health care:

Why Women Rejected Hillary
It's long past time to stop pretending there's a "women's vote." Trump proved that we don't come together as a bloc anymore.

Good morning, Laura. My post wasn't about all women. All women never agreed on anything, anymore than all men, all blacks, all Catholics, all Americans etc. agree on anything. Nor was I talking about the women who rejected Hillary. I was talking about the women who supported her. The bottom line is: This wouldn't have happened if Hillary had been elected president. No Trump would have meant no Gorsuch, no Kavanaugh and no Amy Coney Barrett, 3 of the 6 votes that went to overturn Roe.

If Hillary wasn't the nominee we wouldn't have had President Trump.

Troll, troll, troll your boat,
gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily,
life in post-Trump America is not a dream.

Exactly right. It could have even been some other woman. Hillary was the poison pill. Donald Trump should have been the easiest candidate to defeat in history.

But I actually get tired of talking about what could have been in 2016. It could also be speculated that we'd still have RvW if Al Gore had won in 2000, or if Carter had beat Reagan for a second term. Democrats have been letting this country slip (have been capitulating) to the right for decades.

Where's the outrage from President Biden (another Catholic) on this? I guess he made some small statement about it, but the crickets are drowning him out.

Laura voted in Kansas where a vote for Hillary would have made absolutely no difference. But she still catches most of the blame here for Hillary's loss. amirite?

She's the poster child for Hillary's loss. For the mindset that protecting abortion wasn't worth electing Hillary.

Translation: One can only be criticized for supporting a Russian asset, badmouthing the person who would have protected their rights, and then whining about the loss of those rights if their vote would have swung an election.

I guess that lets about 95% of the country off the hook, since they don't live in swing states. What a relief that must be for the vast majority of us to know we can blithely ignore the consequences of our actions. Thanks!

Todays republicans would not even be fazed by that photo.

They would just say it was her fault for not properly controlling her ----- intake and that she should have lived a better life or some such similar crap. In other words was her own fault.

Todays republicans have no shame.

Re 10

And yes.

Democrats will need to take a hard look at themselves and realize how and why we let this happen. It's obviously not settled law. It's not over yet. The supremes just proved that.
