Illegal immigration has more than doubled from Trump to Biden. It's only slightly worse than what we had under W Bush BTW. Same --------. This tragedy is the result of this horrible policy.

Not quite. The Biden administration is leaning on a public health law invoked by the Trump administration to quickly expel migrants who are encountered at the US-Mexico border, typically single adults and some families.

The current administrations half-measures, is it really that difficult to understand .....

A completely open border is politically impossible

Perhaps, but an Open Border is the only way to solve this ... Let people in at the port of entry and give them probationary admission, don't break the law you won't be sent home. Its what we have now, but just half-assing it, by ignoring the reality of the evasiveness occuring. Making the people try to evade just causes more death and mayhem. Let them in at the PoE.

A wall is an obstacle. Climbing it comes with inherent risks. The stated and enforced policy was - don't enter illegally.

46 people dying a horrific excruciating, prolonged and torturous death in the back of a semi is a result of policy that ENCOURAGES and promotes this type of illegal entry.

"The cruelty is the point" was the mantra of measures taken to prohibit this very type of thing from happening.

Yet, Danforth will vote for the enablers anyway.

Usually when this happens it's because people who have been treated like serfs instead of citizens by our neighboring countries to the south do what you would probably do in their place... take what is probably their only way out of abject poverty and certain corrupt authoritarian government persecution.

But then, corrupt authoritarians here in this country are still lying about the last election, so we become more like them all the time.

Perhaps they should just stay home... I mean, in 10 years, 20, the fascists who are trying to take over here with Big Lies don't believe in the polite Constitutional necessity of actually abiding by the State's Electors Ballots rather than plotting to disrupt the peaceful transition of power and criminally replace the ballots with the signatures of fake electors, all while staging a ground attack on the Capital.

It's not like we're much better than a third world country when that happens here.

Which Frank Zappa said it couldn't, but.

But maybe he didn't see the Return of the Tea Party as Trumper Zombies.

@#21 ... a result of policy that ENCOURAGES and promotes this type of illegal entry. ...

Companies should stop hiring those who enter the Country illegally.

Enforcement should be against the companies.

If the lure of jobs did not exist, the number of people trying to enter the Country illegally will drop.

An excerpt from the Border Patrol Union webpage that was deleted during fmr Pres Trump's term:
web.archive.org

  • Walls and fences are temporary solutions that focus on the symptom (illegal immigration) rather than the problem (employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens).

  • Walls and fences are only a speed bump. People who want to come to the United States to obtain employment will continue to go over, under, and around the walls and fences that are constructed.

  • Walls and fences will undoubtedly result in an increase in fraudulent documents and smuggling through the Ports of Entry.

  • Walls and fences do not solve the issue of people entering the country legally and staying beyond the date they are required to leave the country, a problem which will undoubtedly increase as more walls and fences are constructed.

Going after employers is only half of the battle. The other half, and more important half, is denying any and all "free" public services to those who come here illegally. Throw away the entire carrot for illegal entry. Once that happens immigration can be controlled and tweaked through legal points of entry.

    #47 Danforth,

Human, sex and drug trafficking is baked into illegal immigration. All of those things are cruel. Reducing the volume of illegal entry reduces the volume of those cruel things. Increasing the volume increases the amount of cruelty.

    You're using Republican Math.

Try this: If ZERO jobs were offered to illegals...exactly how many jobs would illegals accept?

Going after employers is ALL of the battle. You don't want to admit that because it's Republican business owners, and Republican members of the Chambers of Commerce, and Republican Sheriffs being bought off.

@#48 ... Going after employers is only half of the battle. ...

The Border Patrol Union has said otherwise. They called it the problem. Not half the problem, not half the battle.

    The problem.

... The other half, and more important half, is denying any and all "free" public services to those who come here illegally....

If the employers were not hiring those who come into the Country illegally, then the number of those coming into the Country illegally would drop significantly. If the number of people in the Country illegally drops significantly, the need to provide survival services to them would also drop significantly.

So, the Border Patrol Union seems to be focused upon solving the core problem, while your comments seem to be trying to deflect towards symptoms, not the problem.

Fact Check: Is Florida drug-testing welfare recipients? (2015)
    www.jacksonville.com

...I read on Facebook that a new law in Florida requires welfare recipients to get drug tests and, as a result, thousands of welfare recipients have left the state. True or not?

Florida only required welfare recipients to undergo drug tests for four months back in 2011, so reports that the "new" law led to a mass exodus of welfare recipients from the state are false.

Media reports recounted how, on June 1, 2011, Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill requiring adults applying for welfare assistance to undergo drug screening.

"It's the right thing for taxpayers," CNN and other media quoted Scott as saying after signing the legislation. "It's the right thing for citizens of this state that need public assistance. We don't want to waste tax dollars. And also, we want to give people an incentive to not use drugs."

Under the law, which took effect on July 1, the Florida Department of Children and Family Services was required to conduct the drug tests on adults applying to the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, media accounts show. The aid recipients would be responsible for the cost of the screening, which they would recoup in their assistance if they qualify. Those who fail the required drug testing may designate another individual to receive the benefits on behalf of their children, the law allowed.

But the measure quickly drew fire.

Shortly after the bill was signed, five Democrats from the state's congressional delegation, including Rep. Corrine Brown, issued a joint statement, calling it "downright unconstitutional."...

A temporary injunction by a federal judge in Orlando temporarily halted the law in October 2011, saying that the law could violate the Constitution's Fourth Amendment.

While the law was in effect from July 1 through October 2011, it showed few results. State data showed that only 108 out of 4,086 people tested - 2.6 percent - were found to have been using narcotics, the New York Times, CNN and numerous other media reported. State records showed that the requirement cost more money to carry out than it saved.

A ruling in February 2013 from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta affirmed the injunction. That December, a U.S. district judge permanently halted the law.

Scott and the state continued to argue in favor of the law, although their appeals failed. ...

OTOH, states will be able to go after the dead beat dads in ways they couldn't pre-Roe due to ample DNA testing.

    People pull strings.

The Fukuyamist Globalists need cheap labor.

The Democrats need a permanent, indigent underclass to vote for a living and keep them in power.

What's happening daily at the border only becomes a thorn in the side of the Vegetable's administration when ---- like this enters the 24 hour news cycle. Last time, I recall our highly talented Border Czar advise our neighbors to the south to "not come".

That had to be a tough utterance for her given her modus operandi for professional and political success up until that point.

These poor wretches died (as so many thousands of others do that you never hear about) because they understand that there is an Administration in power that is amenable to their arrival. They know they can get here, get picked up, processed, put on a bus, and shipped north. So here they come.

@#80 ... While I am sure you appreciate the long copy and paste it had nothing to do with my post ...

My comment responded to your post #75 which, in turn, was a reply to #71.

#71 was about the drug testing program for welfare recipients and ended with the sentence...

...It was less than 3 percent. They wasted millions in time and expense for nothing and had to shut down the program. ...

To which you responded in #75...

... #71 My friend you are so far out of touch with reality, it's frightening ...

In my #77 post, I merely cited an article that did a fact-check on #71.

And guess what, it showed #71 to be spot-on, and not worthy of your "you are so far out of touch with reality, it's frightening" comment.

So, it appears that my citation of the article from 2015 did have quite a bit to do with your post.

Explain this a little bit more.

Is it because the economy is doing so great, and with unemployment at record lows, that demand for labor causes the Invisible Hand to push them over the border? Biden's amazing economy is why they're coming?

This thread is hilarious. Twice as much due to the person who posted it.

Republicans, don't want (non white) immigrants coming to America.

So they create obstacles and barriers to entry.

So people figure out other ways to enter the nation.

    Some die in the process.

Then, Republicans blame Democrats for these deaths.

They don't care that these people are dead.

They're only interested in using their deaths to push for more stringent borders.

Which, will result in more deaths and suffering.

Suffering. It's the gift conservatives give others.

For trumpturds, the objective is the infliction of the suffering.

That's why they love him so....they ignore he used undocumented workers in his real estate, vineyards and hotels. Never mind he is "married" to one.

They loved that he ripped immigrant children from their mothers arms and put them in cages to sit in their own filth, then put them into the foster program and lost track of them. The point was to make them suffer. Stephen Goebbels Miller admitted it was. That's why they love him.
