Well Golly, The second amendment has been around a couple hundred years. Guns have always been easy to get. In the 60's you were allowed to join the rifle club and bring your gun to school. Switzerland has one of the highest weapon ownership rates in the world. No school shootings.
Maybe....just maybe, its the fact that we have MORE violent nutjobs than ever before......yeah, maybe its the people that are the problem.
Making the guns "harder to get" doesn't fix the people.
Most active shooter incidents are premeditated and well planned. At best, these new laws can delay their plan, or reduce the body count on the SHORT TERM until they adapt and overcome the obstacles in front of them. I'm all for that, because every life counts, but the delusion that any of these bills will solve the problem and end mass shootings is a delusion.
If only we could make the law really specific....ya know, like make it illegal to actually KILL people? Oh wait, that's already illegal. didn't stop any of them, did it?
And the political BS? Look at those 309 mass shootings. You may know the names of 10 or so white males, and declare right wing radicalism as the "cause" Look at the other 299 and tell me what you see.

Military grade assault weapons have NOT been available for hundreds of years.
The number of guns per capita has also gone way up. There are more guns than people in america.
Every country has sickos. Every country has suffering. Only in america do we make it easy for suffering sickos to get weapons that allow them to easily kill dozens of people.
Now on top of that we have a fascist political movement that tells violent morons that they are being oppressed and cheated by marxist elites who want to take their guns and turn their kids gay. That WORSHIPS and SEXUALIZES gun ownership and features campaign ads with candidates shooting everything up with ridiculous guns that no one ever needs.
Gun ownership is like SUVs. Very few people needed SUVs. But they made insecure losers feel tough and masculine so they bought them, then everyone couldnt see over the tall SUVs anymore and felt unsafe, so they had to buy SUVs too just so they could see in traffic and wouldnt feel endangered.
