"I'm amazed a 10-year-old got pregnant. ... You really wrestle with that. That's a tough one," Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio, said Thursday.

"This is a tough call...She's pregnant. She's a baby." Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas

It's only a tough call if you are a ghoulish monster. Roger Williams is the type of "person" that GOP have been giving power to all over the country for decades. They are ignorant fascists who have no ability to see past their nose. How does a person who doesn't even that adolescents can get pregnant get elected to office where they are responsible for making decisions on limiting rights to reproductive healthcare? Now Roger and so many other GOP'ers will fail to acknowledge they do this time and again with so many matters that gravely impact the people they want to lead. They won't put 2 & 2 together and realize they don't actually know what they are talking about in most cases because they've substituted mythology for wisdom and ideology for real life experience.
I went out with an old friend of mine recently. He told me how he has become "pro-life" in recent years. His description of what that means is really just pro-choice in cases that he feels are acceptable to terminate a pregnancy and is more about controlling the sex lives of women. I asked him why it is that he believes that some fetuses have more right to be birthed than others and he stammered out a non-answer. I then asked this middle-aged incel virgin who has never had a relationship that got past a few dates what experience in his life has made him feel his judgement on such things should matter more than that of an actual pregnant person and their doctor. That question put an end to the discussion.

I wish I could agree but there is a reason by dolts like this get there in the first place......they showed up.

Including myself.....I know a ton of folks who would be qualified to represent in our Statehouse.

But we're all busy and I can't devote that kind of time to it.

They show up because they get bankrolled.
Take the money out of politics, most of these crazy Republicans will never be heard from again.
Of course, Republicans say money in politics is a First Amendment free speech issue. And the Supreme Court agrees with them.

"This is what scares me about reversing Roe. State legislatures are chock full of morons. Anybody can get elected to the state legislature."

Congratulations, Republicans.

I'm old enough to remember when conservatives were saying Greta Thunberg was too young at 15 to have an opinion about politics and the environment but come to find out they really just wanted her to settle down with a rapist, buy some guns and start a family." Or... the Oval Office.

It has a correlation to obesity. Estrogen is stored in fat cells.

We feed our kids too much food when they don't need it.

It's probably what's driving the male infertility problem too messing with the motility of their swimmers.

Aside from that, I will tell you this... pregnant girls that age is not as unusual as people like (want) to believe.

I forgot to add... it never has been all that unusual except to those who bury their heads in the sand.

Wait, what????

From the cited article...

...Rep. Jim Jordan, one of several Republicans wrestling with messaging after calling the story a lie, tried to shift the focus onto the media and the undocumented man who was arrested....

Rep Jordan initially called the story a lie, and now he is blaming the media because he (or his staff) did not do any research to determine the validity of the story?

So, Rep Jordan is blaming the media for doing the research on a story, research that he and his staff did not do.

And people elect this guy to represent them?

WTF?

I mean really, WTF?

Or is your comment just trying to deflect from some apparent Republican inanity that I cited?

It's true. And for some reason markedly earlier for black girls. www.webmd.com

pregnant girls that age is not as unusual as people like (want) to believe.

Also true. One third of minor victims are under the age of 12. paar.net

Also true is the fact reporting of rape is inversely proportional to the age of the victim in the case of minors. Largely due to the prevalence of the perpetrator being a family member.

The same people who don't want public teachers to teach topics/books parents deem inappropriate think it's okay for the state to force underage girls to carry a baby to term regardless of their parents' wishes and their doctors' recommendations. Have I got that right?

22 The unintended consequence of our laws that protect the privacy of child victims is that most people have no idea how prevalent child abuse and sexual abuse is. I have seen some unimaginably horrific things you will never hear about in the news, because even the media draws a line and doesn't report the really bad stuff.

Early menses usually corresponds with early puberty as well. Black girls develop a year or two earlier than white girls. Another very odd thing I have read about is that girls begin menses earlier when there is an unrelated male living in the house. Since stepfathers and moms boyfriend are the most dangerous person in a child's life, that is an enhanced risk factor.

My supervisors wife works in child welfare. The stuff she is allowed to tell him and therefore he tells me is enough to shock. Somedays he comes home and she is nearly broken and all she can say was it was a rough day. Having met her I don't even want to think about what kinds of cases she would deal with for that to be her reaction.

I have read about is that girls begin menses earlier when there is an unrelated male living in the house.

There has been some correlation found between date of coitarche and menarche I don't really want to think about what that means in cases where there is "Since stepfathers and moms boyfriend" in the house.

Screw this whole thread I'm going to take a hot shower and try not to cry thinking about this.

*whispering*
One party is the "stupid party."

Read this article and what has been going on the last 40 years. The strain of anti-intellectualism infecting the Republican Party has now become today's GQP, the party of Q, anti-education, chemtrails, microbots in vaccines, anti-science, Trump, Jade Helm, Jim Jordan, Boebert, MTG, and the rise of the GQP as the fusion of the uneducated, Christofascists, -----------, and anti-abortionist extremists.

America has become a second-rate nation; the 2022 and 2024 elections will determine whether that remains or we further deteriorate to lower-second-nation status.

As the dietetic origins of early puberty goes down for girls and up for boys, that "classic grade school talk" about how our bodies are changing must be re-written. Maybe girls in the fourth grade, and boys in the ninth? This entire topic is getting weird as all get-out!
