A record low 8% of Americans lacked health insurance at the start of the year, according to an analysis by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services ... More than 5 million people have gained coverage since 2020, according to the department's review of household survey data.

Let's Go Brandon!

Biden and his congressional allies took a variety of deliberate steps early last year that made a big difference for millions of families. Indeed, not only did the administration significantly bolster outreach efforts, encouraging and helping consumers enroll in ACA plans, but Democrats used the American Rescue Plan to make coverage much more affordable - with some consumers seeing their premiums fall to nearly or literally zero.

The bad news is that those insurance subsidies are set to expire later this year. The good news is that the Democrats' Inflation Reduction Act would keep the low insurance rates in place for three more years.

While GOPers and many oblivious Democrats and progressives keep the----------- of Biden's ineffectiveness well ... ahem ... jizzed, Brandon continues to rack up impressive accomplishments - most of which are coming at the perfect political time with midterm elections less than 100 days and counting.

Sure there are myriad missteps - and there will be more, that's the nature of the presidency when everything is put on your platter. But looking at the MAGA-loons emerging from GOP primaries - along with Orange Julius Caesar desperate to hog as much daily news oxygen as possible as he's trying to outrun now inevitable indictments and lawsuits, the changing story of recent days are all turning in Biden's favor - especially the juxtaposition of the CIA's execution of al-Zawahiri at the same time Trump was schmoozing with Saudi financiers and denying the realities of 9/11 as incensed families protested his sportswashing golf shindig.

Biden and Democrats continue to deliver for all Americans while Republicans do nothing but complain and then try to thwart many of the successes Democrats have managed to foster coming out of the disaster of problems left by Trump's presidential abdication of duty before he left office.

I want to say as loudly as possible @POTUS @JoeBiden is having the most consequential Presidency in generations. Anyone who wastes time looking beyond the next election is wasting time. Run on the successes of this administration and on protecting freedom. That is how you win.

Yet medical debt is still crushing huge numbers of Americans. We still have a long ways to go.

For the US, this is good.

For the first world, this is bad.

The bar is very low in this country.

I'd love to see the percent uninsured by state.

Top states for uninsured are:
Texas (17.5%), Oklahoma, Georgia, Alaska, Florida, Idaho, Mississippi, New Mexico, Tennessee, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, North Carolina (10%).

The lowest are:
Massachusetts (2.4%), Vermont, Rhode Island, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Michigan, New Hampshire, Maryland, New York, Oregon, Connecticut (4.8%)

So, no surprise, the poorer, redder states have a lot more uninsured.

To be fair they are seeking solutions. For example, they often address their state's poverty problem by giving their poor a one-way ticket to a blue state. I guess hypocrisy feels better from a safe distance.
