In response to the Texas school shooting that left 19 children dead May 24, the local school system and Sheriff's Office are rolling out some beefed up security measures in 2022-23, including putting AR-15 rifles in every school.

"We were able to put an AR-15 rifle and safe in all of our schools in the county," Harwood said. "We've also got breaching tools to go into those safes. We've got extra magazines with ammo in those safes."

There are six schools in the Madison County system: Brush Creek Elementary, Hot Springs Elementary, Mars Hill Elementary, Madison Middle, Madison High and Madison Early College High.

"The reason we put the breaching tools in the safes is that in the event we have someone barricaded in a door, we won't have to wait on the fire department to get there," Harwood said. "We'll have those tools to be able to breach that door if needed. I do not want to have to run back out to the car to grab an AR, because that's time lost. Hopefully we'll never need it, but I want my guys to be as prepared as prepared can be."

. I want the parents of Madison County to know we're going to take every measure necessary to ensure our kids are safe in this school system.

Redial,

"How about balls?"

Isn't it interesting that having "balls" is slang for having courage.

People sure like to put down male fortitude as a weakness or flaw of the human race but they sure know where to look when they need protected.

Gal,

"putting AR-15 rifles in every school."

I think they should train teachers to throw knives and carry them in a holster.

Could include knife throwing as part of the regular training to become public school teachers.

AR-15?

I feel like I'm kind of a gun nerd, but why an AR-15. For people who aren't gun nerds, I tell them that an AR is a horrible self-defense weapon. The muzzle velocity is way too high, and it punches through far too much stuff.

For close-quarters defense, IMO, you would want something like a Saiga semi-automatic shotgun. Maybe .410. But I don't know if you can by Russian guns in the US anymore.

Another good options would be a Judge, Governor, or even one of the bigger anti-bear pistols that had large, low mv rounds.

They aren't putting these guns there for defense. These are for offense. They are for hunting and killing school shooters. That is why they have breaching tools too. Now they just have to find people who are actually brave enough to put them to use.

Gun companies emphasize masculinity and make veiled references to white supremacist groups to sell AR-15-style rifles, congressional committee report says www.businessinsider.com

The primary target of gunmakers' advertising, according to Busse, is "this angry, young male, politically active, conservative, aggrieved, dreams of using the AR-15 to 'make things right in the world."

"In other words" people who also fall right into domestic terror groups and radicalization and everything else."

The committee report said that in their sales materials, gun manufacturers prey on masculinity by claiming their weapons will put people "at the top of the testosterone food chain."

An example of this is the "Man Card" campaign that AR-15 maker Bushmaster launched in 2010, which marketed its guns to a "Man's Man" in a "world of rapidly depleting testosterone."

Go to a public library, and if they carry the NRA magazine, American Rifleman, maybe wearing rubber gloves, scan through it. All of the male models with the not-having-shaved-for-a-couple days look seem to be squirting excess testosterone in the firearm ads.

All the gun incidents in schools.

Teachers and staff leaving guns unsecured, accidental discharges, dropping loaded weapons, and of course teachers/staff threatening students, parents or other teachers/staff with guns.

Yeah this will work out great!

Hey I know! Do what Florida did and put veterans in class rooms! Make sure they are mentally stable? Nah.

Out of curiosity, you aren't going to pay teachers properly or give them more than a couple hours of training, but now you want them to fend off active shooters? I'm sure this won't worsen the state's teacher shortage in the slightest!

Because Truth Hurts (tm) and people will jump through a 1,000 hoops instead of facing the problem.

They would rather arm teachers, put assault guns in schools, put police officers in schools (criminalizing normal child misbehavior), have 1 door for a school, turn schools into prisons then deal with the simple logical solution-remove assault weapons from society.

Because that is an attack on their essence as people. It is an attack on their identities. Because they are weak, ignorant, scared fools.

It would be sad if it weren't so tragic

John,

"You are a traitor who supports overthrowing the US Constitution"

Can you explain attacking people who support "guns and God" both of which are singled out specifically as constitutional rights?

What occurred Jan 6 was an isolated event while liberals want to dismantle the Constition permanently.

John,

Not to mention what happened Jan 6 was the result of using a voting system due to covid that will be abolished once Republicans get back control.

I had incentive to vote republican when Supreme Court seats were coming open.

Now I have incentive to vote republican to protect our voting system.

Also hopefully deal with the border and the horrible suffering being put on people being encouraged by the US government thinking its ok to come here illegally.

The right to bear arms in a well regulated militia is a Constitutional Right. It's not to own any gun by anyone with no restrictions.

The Right to Freedom of Religion is in the Constitution. It's not the right to force those religious beliefs on others.

No one is dismantling the Constitution but Republicans are trying.

Damn... You are brainwashed, aren't you?

Mail in Voting has been used for decades with no problems but you pretend it suddenly is an issue. Fine. Alaska no longer gets it Senators. It's hugely mail in up there.

Jan 6 didn't happen because of a voting system. It happened because people like you were dumb enough to believe Trump's Big Lie.

And that last sentence is just a 4Chan meme.

But seriously, keep voting for people who want to mount an insurrection, send fake electors to Congress, and think a State legislature should be able to override the voters anytime they want. Keep pretending you give a damn about the Constitution or this country.

#36 | POSTED BY BOAZ

It doesn't change the context at all. Maybe you can't read? Because your interpretation took over 220 years to come up.

The whole original point was to make sure people who were part of the well-regulated militia had the weapons to defend themselves from a Federal Government. All white men were required to be part of the militia. So blacks, Indians, women, any other minorities, insane people, criminals and anyone not considered fit to be a part of the militia were NOT protected by the second amendment. And the States could pass any laws they wanted on guns.

And now we don't have a law requiring everyone to be part of the militia. So they wouldn't be protected under the originalist intent reading you love so much.

In addition, the VERY FIRST ------- CASE on the 2nd Amendment happened in 1875 and the Supreme Court said "Dude, this only applies to the Federal Government. States can do what they want."

The second case was in 1939 which stated that the whole point of the 2nd Amendment was to protect the States' right to have a militia and that it didn't mean everyone could have a gun. STILL the states could do what they wanted at this point.

It was until ------- 2008 that the Supreme Court led by morons like you said, "Drrr...we don't care what it says! Everyone can have guns (in the District of Columbia)! Shoot them kids!"

Not until 2010, did the idiots at the Supreme Court magically made the 2nd Amendment apply to state laws as well.

"Can you explain attacking people who support "guns and God" both of which are singled out specifically as constitutional rights?"

Is this an attack on those people?

"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.

"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

#38 | POSTED BY SITZKRIEG

Yeah... Because hardly anyone had them. They weren't lugging them around town.

But you played yourself. Guns were expensive back then. Cannons super expensive.

When guns became cheap around 1830 due to better manufacturing, states all over passed laws restricting and regulating them. Those laws were upheld in court time and again. They never reached the Supreme Court because NO ONE was dumb enough to think the 2nd Amendment said anyone can own guns and especially cannons.

If you asked the Supreme Court in 1800 if the states could outlaw ordinary folks from owning cannons, they would have said "Yes, why the ---- can't they?"

The only caveat was the Feds couldn't ban them (mostly) because the law was that all white men were considered legally required to be part of the state militia.

No. They didn't.

Ship owners owned most of the heavy weapons along with State militias.

GREAT JOB ignoring all the history of the 2nd Amendment though, especially where States could regulate guns however they wanted until 2010 when the Conservative Supreme Court decided to make the 2nd Amendment into whatever they wanted. And ignoring that the 2nd Amendment ONLY applied to members of the militia for over 100 years.
