Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, August 14, 2022

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday publicly requested that documents seized from his Florida resort and home during a federal search this past week be returned, claiming that it includes confidential attorney and client communications. "Oh great! It has just been learned that the FBI, in its now famous raid of Mar-a-Lago, took boxes of privileged attorney-client' material, and also executive' privileged material, which they knowingly should not have taken," he posted on his social media site, Truth Social. "By copy of this TRUTH, I respectfully request that these documents immediately returned [sic] to the location from which they were taken. Thank you!" he wrote.

For starters, in my view, he needs to be a whole lot more specific about which documents and whether or not those documents are evidence of a crime.

But, if he were really serious about this request, he'd make it in a Court of Law, not on social media.

So, bottom line, this looks like just another "kicking up the sand" tactic because he's got nothing else.

He is panicking because he didn't require prospective buyers to wear gloves when handling the merchandise.

I remember reading when this first happened that any materials found during the search that might to relate to any other crime investigations would be fair game.

"That was the point."

Well thank God Trump fulfilled their suspicions.

Of course, he could've thwarted all those evil intentions by being honest and following the law.

... bwahaha, I'm just kidding. We all know Trump is incapable of either

Donald can depend on his supporter hos to infer that it really wasn't about the nat sec docs, but that the point was a fishing expedition for the other investigations.

Which is what the pimply faced Onut did for him, infer a conspiracy where point was getting Trump rather looking
for stolen docs.

And then, in a very Trumpish way, he lied about how he was only quoting me.

Trump is again doing what he always does. When he gets his tail in a crack, this is always one of the first things he does is go play to his base about how poorly he was treated, about how it isn't as bad as it's made out to be, throwing misdirection and lies out to try and cover over the facts. It's always, 'he's not to blame', that it's someone else's fault.

We've had 4 years to learn the playbook. It hasn't varied.

What can you say, except . . .

It's an automatic response used by children, immature adults and guilty people.

That . . . and whataboutism.

That message wasn't for A.G. Garland. It was another battle cry for his addle-brained base, since they are the only ones dumb enough to believe Trump's civil rights b.s.

OneNut (e pluribus nucibus unum) does't get it. If Trump didn't take what was never his, lied about it, had his attorney lie and sign a statement that said everything had been turned over, hadn't lied and said "the FBI planted it!" then said "Anything taken out is declassified automatically" (kind of destroys the "FBI planted it" lie, etc. etc., etc., and now says "Attorney client privilege documents!" (we're up to what, 7 different lies now?) then OneNut still wouldn't have a point.

#17 | Posted by YAV at 2022-08-15 09:08 AM | Reply

I can't keep up with the lies.

So far....

My compound is under siege! (after the FBI left)
All they had to do was ask (after they had already subpoenaed them)
I already returned all the documents (he didn't return them all)
They planted evidence.
They brought in backpacks full of planted evidence.
Hilary's emails
The documents (that the fbi planted?) were declassified.
Obama 30,000,000 nuclear secrets!
I had a standing order that ANYTHING I took out of the whitehouse was automatically declassified (it doesn't work that way and where is this order?)
It's cover under executive privilege (nope) and attorney client-privilege.

You can't claim attorney-client privilege on evidence. "Just leave the dead body in the trunk, it is attorney - client privilege".

Then he has someone call the DOJ and threaten Garland and the country with violence.

The guy is a low iq mob boss.

Now maybe he will respectfully have his lawyers file the appropriate paperwork.

Whining and lying on the internet or FoxProp is not a respectable or legal request or for anything.

#20 | Posted by donnerboy at 2022-08-16 12:11 AM | Reply

A formal request is required. The documents were seized by a search warrant issued by a court of law. The documents are in custodia legis, in custody of the law. A court order is required to release them from custody of the law.

The DOJ knows it can't retain attorney/client privileged documents. A DOJ filter team, segregated from the investigation, will review every document for potential attorney/client privilege. Some clearly will be, some clearly won't and some may or may not which will be decided by the judge. The Buffoon's lawyers know that. The media knows that. But them telling the public that doesn't create drama, tension, reaction.

Documents claimed to be executive privilege should be retained. Executive privilege is to protect communications to the president regarding the duties of his office. Communications, documents, regarding a president's duties are government records, property of the United States. The filter team will do that diligence also. Most if not all such claims should be denied. See again the last three sentences of the second paragraph.

DONNER

Lying and whining is not Trump's second nature. It's his first.

He's way too far gone. Even under the threat of Espionage, he might be running a little bit scared, but I'm sure he still believes he can out-lawyer the DOJ prosecutors and con his way free.

If not, and trapped, I think he's quite capable of having somebody killed. He's a sociopath with no conscience and a bent for revenge.

And that's no political hyperbole.

Dotard made this post only to agitate his feral trumptards. He knows he isn't getting the documents back and I am not even sure that he wants them. But what he wants to do is fire up the right wing domestic terrorist base so they can threaten FBI and DOJ officials, threaten their families, protest outside their homes and offices, attack them, kill them and most importantly SEND HIM MONEY TO FIGHT THEM. It is always part of the grift.

I'm sure he still believes he can out-lawyer the DOJ prosecutors and con his way free.

He might believe that, but what he wants more is to create the division so that some people will start saying "we need to let him go so the nation can heal".

I have already heard that and as these feral trumptards start committing domestic terrorism more and more the calls will become louder.

I expect it will be a bipartisan call. Suburban centrists have always been more concerned about order, and less on law, so long as they get what they want, which is to not have to think about stuff too much.

HAGBARD

"some people will start saying "we need to let him go so the nation can heal"

Whoever said that is wrong. As long as Trump is free he'll continue to agitate for chaos and mayhem.

But there is more than one way to take away his freedom. A different kind of prison, so to speak, from which there is no escape ~~ irrelevancy. I have no doubt that Trump will manage to avoid spending any time behind bars, thanks to the same Constitution that he is trying to destroy. Mores the pity but, unfortunately, that's the way it works for people who have financial means.

Between the DOJ, the Manhattan D.A., the State of New York, the State of Georgia and the IRS, (or my favorite, a court ordered receivership for debt) I think they can take away his financial means and thus reduce him to a pile of human toxic waste that will scar him, or anybody who associates with him, for life.
