It's a good thing the Supreme Court decided we can't trust women to make these type of choices. She's clearly needs to consult with some GOP politicians to find out what she should do.

Can anyone explain how this benefits anyone? Even if your religion says life begins at conception, does that life include things with no head?

I'm not so sure. We're not bad at taking a stand against something when people we know and care about are subject to the the we're protesting against. Think about Vietnam, the most self absorbed generation would never have cared to the degree they did if they weren't simultaneously getting drafted. I'm curious if reproductive choice is a similar issue that will get people off their asses and to the voting booth.

"Can anyone explain how this benefits anyone? Even if your religion says life begins at conception, does that life include things with no head?"

Now this is an important and well worded question.

He doesn't hate on religion, God, or Christianity.

Instead he poses the question to any who's "religion says life begins at conception".

There's no hate or bigotry here just a terrifying question for those who oppose all abortion need to ask themselves.

And if the doctors tell her the fetus has no chance of survival beyond say a couple of days this is no different than family members deciding to pull the plug on a family member who's trapped on life support.

Let the lady decide.

Sonograms and various types of pre-natal testing do not appear in the Constitution, therefore we do not need to consider them when writing today's anti-abortion laws. What was good enough for 17th century law makers is good enough for us today in the 21st century.

Would still be preferrable to having a kid grow up to be a Democrat who can't see past partisan hate. At least this fetus can't damage the country with his/her hate like Dems and Reps who refuse to be objective and can't accept reality. I'll take those odds for my little Chip.

Also, it's very quite telling how you use an anecdote to relate someone being stupid or lesser-than while being part of a party who calls themselves the party of tolerance and acceptance. I guess it's OK to make jokes about those with disabilities if it matches your opinion but not for anyone else. Approbo ad me, see my sentence just above this one.

#13 | POSTED BY SNOOFY

Bingo. Because this woman's situation is the same whether she lives in Louisiana or California, Indiana or New York. That's why we need protections for all persons to make personal medical decisions with their doctors. Do attorney-client protections vary from one state to the next?

Let Louisiana deal with this. If you dont live there, what are you talking about?

If she wants an on demand abortion, go to another state or move. Not my problem. She can always get involved in the politics of her state or move to one that's more like her.

And no, I dont care about how "hard" it would be for her to move. None of my business. Sounds like a personal problem to me.

States rights!

And remember: No matter how hard the state you live in makes your life, it's no one elses problem. It's YOUR personal problem. No matter how many of YOU there are!

#26,

Actually, you are right. If the state "makes your life hard", then leave to a friendlier state.

It's how our Republic was designed.

Local, yav, think LOCAL. It's a local problem. If the people around you do not address your issue, move to somewhere someone will address it.

I havent made life ---- for anyone. And not conforming to a local culture, then someone pushes back is the same thing.

If a locality has a norm culturally, yea, you are going to get "pushback" when you go outside of it. There is a remedy, go to another state with a culture like what you want.

#33 | Posted by boaz at 2022-08-18 11:36 AM | Reply

Let Louisiana deal with this. If you dont live there, what are you talking about?

I live in the US ------. I care about all Americans, not just the ones confined within my arbitrary state lines.

If she wants an on demand abortion, go to another state or move. Not my problem.

Her baby is missing part of its head you stupid piece of ----. This isn't about convenience as you seem to imply with your "on-demand" comment. But let's talk about going elsewhere. By my estimation (not an expert) the nearest state to Louisiana with legal abortion at this stage is North Carolina; a 12 hour 770 mile drive from Baton Rouge. You think pregnant women with babies missing their heads should all be forced to travel that distance to terminate their pregnancies?

#34 | Posted by JOE at 2022-08-18 11:40 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

Let's talk about people who can't travel that distance for an abortion because:
-can't get the time off work
-aren't healthy enough to spend 12 hours each way in a car
-don't have $300+ for gas and hotel
-don't have a car at all

"Well she shouldn't have a fetus that's missing a head" is not an argument human beings make, so come up with something better.

#35 | Posted by JOE at 2022-08-18 11:42 AM | Reply

Her baby is missing part of its head you stupid piece of ----.

So the people of Louisiana need to fix it, not someone like me in NC.

You think pregnant women with babies missing their heads should all be forced to travel that distance to terminate their pregnancies?

I dont. But I live in NC, where my citizens dont have to worry about that..

That's Louisiana's problem to solve.

#36 | Posted by boaz at 2022-08-18 11:43 AM | Reply

So you agree Louisiana's abortion laws need to be changed? What the ---- are you even arguing about then? Of course you, in NC, dont have the power to do anything. But as more and more states consider the scope of their abortion laws, it's important to know the real world impact of those laws.

Every state is considering (or already has considered) how to adjust to the Dobbs ruling. Examples from one state are very applicable elsewhere.

You're missing the point. Maybe it's intentional.

The only cross-border point i'm making is that, no matter where you are, women will become pregnant with incurable birth defects such as baby missing part of head and skull. Thus, the horror that accompanies additional and significant hurdles to managing such a crisis is worthy of consideration for any state addressing its abortion laws.
