Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, August 28, 2022

In near daily statements on his social media platform, in fundraising emails and in interviews, Donald Trump has called law enforcement officials corrupt, illegitimate and reminiscent of Soviet Russia as he demands that prosecutors drop their investigations. America can have peace and tranquility. Or it can have a criminal prosecution of Donald Trump. It cannot have both.

Presenting this mob-like ultimatum appears to have become the former president's strategy as the FBI and the Department of Justice close in on Trump's possession of and refusal to return top secret documents he took with him to his Florida social club when he left the White House following his failed coup attempt.

Even more ominously, Trump, via his legal team, delivered a message to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Aug. 11, three days after the search of his Mar-a-Lago residence, that might have been lifted from the film "The Untouchables":

"President Trump wants the attorney general to know that he has been hearing from people all over the country about the raid. If there was one word to describe their mood, it is angry,'" Trump's lawyers revealed in a lawsuit trying to block release of the seized documents to prosecutors. "The heat is building up. The pressure is building up. Whatever I can do to take the heat down, to bring the pressure down, just let us know."

"It's the language he uses," said Stuart Stevens, a longtime GOP consultant who left the party after it fell under Trump's sway. "Trump is a gangster."

Obligatory:

Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's runnin', but half of them ain't lookin'
It's goin' on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's cookin'
They say I gotta learn, but nobody's here to teach me
If they can't understand it, how can they reach me
I guess they can't, I guess they won't
I guess they front, that's why I know my life is out of luck, fool

He is very dangerous right now. Backed into a corner like a trapped rat he wants to burn it all down. If he can't be King and have America then no one can.

If he can't be King and have America...

IMO, it's not about "having" America, it's about being able to again use the power and prestige of the presidency in service of his own avarice, greed and criminality.

TONY

Not to mention the power to punish anybody who opposes him.

And the GOP response will be...

That's fine because Republic is ready to burn Trump his family and their entire Empire to the ground and I don't mean that as a metaphor.

We saw how well the January 6th Insurrection went not a single cop on duty at the Capitol Building joined the traitors and not a single General governor or other commander of servicemen sided with them.

If the Trump crime family has or does engage in obvious treason the Constitution declares the legal system really can have them hung by the neck until dead.

Lady Lindsey Graham added more kerosene to the smouldering ire of violence-prone Trump supporters today with this assinine commentary:

"Most Republicans including me, believes when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It's all about getting him ... If they tried to prosecute President Trump for mishandling classified information after Hillary Clinton set up a server in her basement there literally will be riots in the street. I worry about the country."

I can't think of anything more ill-appropriate and unnecessarily incendiary ever uttered by a sitting U.S. Senator since prior to the Civil War.

However, he is right about one aspect, but it's not in the manner he thinks. When it comes to Trump, there really is no law. No law that he won't break, no law that he won't obstruct, no law that he doesn't dismiss as not applying to his royal presidential emminence.

It's truly shocking that Graham conflates Hillary Clinton's home server - the very same thing that both Colin Powell and Condi Rice had before her - with Trump's already established misconduct with classified documents and confidential national security information, that very thing he shared with Russian adversaries inside the Oval Office.

Graham must realize he's going to be called to account for his criminal meddling in Georgia's presidential election, and he's obviously hitching his wagon even more tightly to the most pathetic and psychotic person to ever haunt the White House.

Attn: @GOP, @LindseyGrahamSC

This shouldn't have to be said but patriots don't wish for riots to occur in their own country. Domestic terrorists do.

@FBI, look into that. Thanks.

The US doesn't negotiate with terrorists or traitors.

Trump is above the law?

How desperate are Republicans to crown America's first monarch?

"America can have peace and tranquility."

America will never have peace and tranquility as long as Trump can stir the pot to protect his own tail. If he gets elected he will do similar to what he's done in the past. Play golf at his own places, spend a lot of time watch tv, and little time doing what the nation needs. All the while his minions will work to undermine the democracy and help the wealthy while Trump works on how to grift more from the taxpayer.

And he spend some time having someone come up with a plan that makes him above the law.

If you look at drudge headlines now trump is calling for the FBI agents to "rise up" and "not take it anymore".

As the plot thickens and the screws tighten, the more unhinged he will get...
and yes to try to save his own ass, he would burn it all down.
