Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, September 02, 2022

There is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country. These are hard things. But I'm an American President -- not the President of red America or blue America, but of all America. And I believe it is my duty -- my duty to level with you, to tell the truth no matter how difficult, no matter how painful. And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election. And they're working right now, as I speak, in state after state to give power to decide elections in America to partisans and cronies, empowering election deniers to undermine democracy itself.

So, concerns are expressed about a possible civil war brewing and THAT was Biden's speech? I good leader attempts to calm the nation. Instead, he's pitting people against each other.

It was a good speech, although I felt like he needed to start it by laying out the case for making it. It all just seemed sort of...arbitrary.

In any case, of course the "f*&^ you feelings crowd" are going nuts because their feelings are hurt. Never mind the fact that the speech was 100% correct.

I think this was a prelude to him taking the gloves off. If people want to do stupid ----, like make threats against the FBI and other government agencies, it is probably a good idea to crack down on them before it ends up as another OK City.

This could actually be a good thing for the Republican Party in the long run, if their leadership decides to grow a pair and stop appeasing the worthless shreds of human debris in their party. The ball is in their court.

The riot -- which followed a months-long disinformation campaign by former President Donald Trump and his allies, who claimed without evidence that the election had been stolen through fraud -- lasted seven hours, during which approximately 10,000 people came onto Capitol grounds, with many engaging in violent clashes with officers trying to protect the building and lawmakers inside. At least 2,000 made it inside the Capitol building.

Five people died during or after the attack, including four protesters and one police officer, and approximately 140 officers suffered injuries, according to the Department of Justice.

I put Biden's speech another way and have been saying it constantly on Drudge.

If you support Trump, you're un-American. You don't support democracy which should be the top rung of what you support. Without that, the policy making decisions are useless that we debate.

First and foremost, you need free and fair elections.

Trump won't be around much longer but he's slowly destroying democracy and someone will ultimately run with that ball when he's gone.

It's probably too late to be honest - this issue is going to be around for a long time - but he should be called out often.

Glad the White House is going ultra aggressive.

Lincoln's address to Congress on 7/04/1861 contained quite a bit of "otherism" which would make guys like Balldrainer supremely uncomfortable.

It presents the question whether discontented individuals, too few in numbers to control administration according to organic law in any case, can always, upon the pretenses made in this case, or on any other pretenses, or arbitrarily without any pretense, break up their government, and thus practically put an end to free government upon the earth.

... The people of Virginia have thus allowed this giant insurrection to make its nest within her borders, and this Government has no choice left but to deal with it where it finds it; and it has the less regret, as the loyal citizens have in due form claimed its protection.

... It might seem at first thought to be of little difference whether the present movement at the South be called "secession" or "rebellion." The movers, however, well understand the difference. At the beginning they knew they could never raise their treason to any respectable magnitude by any name which implies violation of law. They knew their people possessed as much of moral sense, as much of devotion to law and order, and as much pride in and reverence for the history and Government of their common country as any other civilized and patriotic people. They knew they could make no advancement directly in the teeth of these strong and noble sentiments. Accordingly, they commenced by an insidious debauching of the public mind. They invented an ingenious sophism, which, if conceded, was followed by perfectly logical steps through all the incidents to the complete destruction of the Union. The sophism itself is that any State of the Union may consistently with the National Constitution, and therefore lawfully and peacefully , withdraw from the Union without the consent of the Union or of any other State. The little disguise that the supposed right is to be exercised only for just cause, themselves to be the sole judge of its justice, is too thin to merit any notice.

With rebellion thus sugar coated they have been drugging the public mind of their section for more than thirty years, and until at length they have brought many good men to a willingness to take up arms against the Government the day after some assemblage of men have enacted the farcical pretense of taking their State out of the Union who could have been brought to no such thing the day before.

I understand the politics behind this though. Democrats very badly want Trump to be the nominee in 2024. By keeping him in the news and attacking his supporters they hope that Republicans will rally behind Trump. It makes the MAL raid look political. I'm not saying that is the case. Yeah, he pitted law abiding citizens against violent insurrectionists, election deniers, and those seeking to take away civil rights from others they simply don't like.

He isn't "pitting" anyone, he's pointing out how radicals have already pitted themselves against the historical norms of American society by threatening violence against citizens and institutions in order to achieve their extremist, minority goals.

Only for brain-dead Trump slurpers. Trump stole government documents he has no reason to hold. NARA asked him nicely for months to return what he'd stolen and he told them the equivalent of "Go pound sand, they're mine." Law doesn't work that way, and it eventually caught up to him and now his criminal theft is widely known.

The raid was in service of the law and national security, and it never should have had to be ordered against a former US President. But with Trump, of course it was the only recourse to get back state secrets while US human assets have been killed or turned in record numbers during his time in office.

I'm sure it's all just a coincidence, wink, wink.

Part of being in a cult is grandiose beliefs about one's cult. They will never admit or see that they're a small portion of the electorate (not population).

Part of that cult is the victim complex that's been nurtured for the last six years. Something that is ever present in how they interpret the world around them, with everything being tilted to make them out to be victims.

They've doubled, tripled and quadrupled down, using the predictable reaction to their behavior to justify their past behavior and rationalize their future behavior as being "deserved" by those who dare speak against them.

It's a feed forward process at this point.

Here's the thing about that... it isn't 75 million people. That is only about how many votes counted for Trumpansy

Besides... both Biden and Hillary got more votes. More people wanted what they offered over Trumpansy.

Hillary lost on a technicality built into our system. The cl0wn brigade discusses this like more people wanted Trumpansy. It's just not true. Both times a majority vote said they didn't want Trumpansy. The protest at Trumansy's win against Clinton was not only national but international... same as the celebration of Trumpansy's loss to Biden. More people don't want Trumpansy and his crappy policies than want them. It's just a fact. Always has been that way.

I can't speak for PizzaBoy, but I don't see any suggestion of that in what he wrote. And certainly not any suggestion of it in Biden's speech, despite the attempt by partisan hacks to paint it that way.

The Republicans need to wake up and snap themselves out of this MAGATrump mesmerism, even if it costs them in this cycle; otherwise the other party could have unchecked power for decades. We don't want that, do we?

Well, trying to label "the other side" as traitor, scum, evil, fascist and just about any other offensive word is just about complete. Good job Biden. The civil war is almost here. I give it 10 years and Americans will be shooting each other over this. I told you it was coming.

So you liberals keep not listening to the other half of America. Keep looking at us as someone foreign as opposed to someone you have to live in a country with. War is coming and we are watching it in real time.

And no, you arent getting rid of conservatives like me. You can label me all you want, I'm not leaving and I'm not shutting up. So fire the first shot. I'm ready and many more like me are as well. Issue is, are YOU going to be the first one who dies?

All you had to do was understand we are separate states and stay out of states that dont represent you and leave them alone. But no. You want some stupid version of democracy.

And here's a hint, the next civil war wont be like the last one...

Just sayin...

You might know who he is referring to but Biden's not talking to the 24/7 news junkies like who dwells here all the time.

Most Americans don't know he's talking about Lindsay Graham. The closest accurate assumption most Americans will make is Trump. Beyond that?

Who? And think about those on the right who might want to hear the names. You can't ask a republican voter to question specific elected leaders unless you name them.

I think Biden still has some professionalism, if you will, in him to not name actual names. He's not going to call out Lindsay Graham by name, that's just not Biden. And I somewhat agree with that.

And actually, the WH put out a Tweet today with all the pictures of the GOP Reps who voted against the election....so there's that in terms of what you are looking for. And to be honest, more people will see that on Twitter than the speech.

They've also been calling out other politicians on other issues, so this aggressive style of "going after" people I think is correct, and much needed.

The speech was excellent IMO because he's calling out the GOP BS - those who really believe it (few) and those who just promote it for power and money (most).

Names weren't going to do much to be honest and aren't really needed - those true believers would call it simply a lie. Those who actually care about democracy - for instance like in your area - will actually know who they are voting for and if that person is living the lie. From there it's their rightful vote.

When you make the citizens believe their voices are no longer heard or don't matter, then you need to worry.

Their voices are being heard - threatening peaceful Americans to violence should their minority not get to control everyone else. We saw their actions on January 1st and this nation's security apparatus will not stand idly by and let them try to overthrow our government again.

Consider yourself warned.

You fascists simply don't get it. There isn't going to be a citizen-against-citizen Civil War because we're still a nation of laws. You want to go out into the streets with weapons and threaten the safety of citizens who don't agree with you, then once you've broken any law, your fight will not be with citizens, it will be with LEO and perhaps the National Guard should you be idiotic enough to try and battle police. They know what the law is and they know what peaceful dissent is. Once the peace ends, then they'll have no choice but to return force with force.

We'll be sitting at home watching you morons get slaughtered by superior forces acting to uphold this nation's Constitution against domestic enemies wishing to end this grand experiment. Good luck with that.

#144 | Posted by rabblerouser

Yeah they're the ones who meet every one of the fascist checklist. Trump's cult.

From another thread:
FASCISM CHECKLIST:
1 The cult of tradition. "One has only to look at the syllabus of every fascist movement to find the major traditionalist thinkers. The Nazi gnosis was nourished by traditionalist, syncretistic, occult elements." MAGA HATS.

2 The rejection of modernism. "The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, is seen as the beginning of modern depravity. In this sense, Ur-Fascism can be defined as irrationalism." Make america great AGAIN - as it was IN THE PAST.

3 The cult of action for action's sale. "Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. Thinking is a form of emasculation." COLLEGE IS LIBERAL BRAINWASHING

4 Disagreement is treason. "The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture, the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge." ASK LIZ CHENEY ABOUT THIS ONE

5 Fear of difference. "The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition." BLAME IMMIGRANTS, BLAME JEWS, BLAME GAYS, BLAME TRANS.

6 Appeal to social frustration. "[ ... ] one of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups. DRAIN THE SWAMP! (before filling his cabinet with bankers)

7 The obsession with a plot. "The followers must feel besieged. The easiest way to solve the plot is the appeal to xenophobia." HUNTER BIDENS LAPTOP! HILLARY'S EMAILS! OBAMA'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE!

8 The enemy is both weak and strong. "[ ... ] the followers must be convinced that they can overwhelm the enemies. Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak." BIDEN IS A SENILE OLD FOOL WHO ALSO IS A EVIL MASTERMIND

9 Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. "For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle." PUNCH NON SUPPORTERS. I'LL PAY YOUR BAIL

10 Contempt for the weak. "Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology." I PREFER SOLDERS WHO DIDNT GET CAPTURED

11 Everybody is educated to become a hero. "in Ur-Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. This cult of heroism is strictly linked with the cult of death." 1/6 TERRORSITS ARE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. WE LOVE YOU

12 Machismo and Weaponry. "This is the origin of machismo (which implies both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits, from chastity to homosexuality). Since even sex is a difficult game to play, the Ur-Fascist hero tends to play with weapons"doing so becomes an ersatz phallic exercise." LIBERALS WANT TO TAKE YOUR GUNS! I GRAB EM BY THE -----

13 Selective Populism. "There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People. YOURE THE REAL AMERICANS!

14 Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. "All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning." FAKE NEWS FAKE NEWS FAKE NEWS (= REAL NEWS)

Trumpism to a T. But "waaahhhh don't call us fascists even though that's exactly what we are!"

Farewell posy from rightwing HotAir's AllahPundit:

What is the right's "cause" at this point? What cause does the Republican Party presently serve? It has no meaningful policy agenda. It literally has no platform. The closest thing it has to a cause is justifying abuses of state power to own the libs and defending whatever Trump's latest boorish or corrupt thought-fart happens to be. Imagine being a propagandist for a cause as impoverished as that. Many don't need to imagine.

... Never forget, it's not the 30 percent of Trump worshipers within the party who brought the GOP to what it is. It's the next 50 percent, the look-what-the-libs-made-me-do zombie partisans, who could have said no but didn't.

Biden has been too cautious. We all understand the reasons why, but really when our nation is so unambiguously being threatened by a bunch of anti-democracy traitors and a twisted former president, the gloves have to come off much quicker. We need a younger tiger. A Gavin Newsom or an AOC. Someone with the balls to confront evil before it grows. MAGAts have proven they are willing to destroy this nation just so long as they can "win" or at least "pwn" those they oppose. There obviously can be no reconciliation with these traitors. No half measures. ...And Biden can expedite the process by clearly opining that it is time for the DOJ to stop dilly dallying and finally indict Trump already.

Don't be a Johnson, familiarize yourself with Gary Johnson's immigration policies!

Gary Johnson on Immigration
Libertarian presidential nominee; former Republican NM Governor

Arizona anti-immigrant law leads to racial profiling
Immigration is an issue on which most of the so-called "mainstream" politicians in the US have shown a striking LACK of courage. A 2010 interview reported [on my] disdain for hardliners [regarding] the incendiary new immigration law passed in AZ: "I just don't think it's going to work," he says. "I think it's going to lead to racial profiling. I don't know how you determine one individual from another--is it color of skin? --as to whether one is an American citizen or the other is an illegal immigrant."

A 10-foot wall just requires an 11-foot ladder
[One journalist] noted, rightly, that I favor an expansive guest worker program and am uncomfortable with the idea of mass deportation. So, he asked me about the idea of increasing security by means of a border wall.
"I have never been supportive of the wall," I answered. "A 10-foot wall just requires an 11-foot ladder."

2 year grace period for illegals to get work visas
Potential immigrants should be issued a Social Security card, which would allow them to pay taxes.
There should be a two-year grace period for illegal immigrants to attain work visas so they can continue contributing to America and begin taking part in American society openly.
Immigrants should be able to bring their families to the US after demonstrating ability to support them financially.

Hey Republicans,

Since you're all such big proponents of law and order, when your pastor speaks out against Biden this Sunday, in violation of the separation of Church and State, and thus no longer eligible of tax-exempt status, you can do the right thing by reporting them to the IRS.

Here is a link to IRS Form 13909, Tax-Exempt Organization Complaint (Referrral)

In hindsight, perhaps it was in anticipation of all the Evangelical Christians who will be turning their churches into GOP recruitment centers, that prompted Dark Brandon to hire 87,000 new IRS agents.

Replace "anti-Semites" with "MAGAs" and your boy JPS is right on the money!

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

He said the 74 million people who voted for Trump weren't voting for an insurrection.

'When people voted for Donald Trump - and support him now - they weren't voting for attacking the capital. They weren't voting for overruling the election. They were going for a philosophy he put forward.'

He did condemn the Trump supporters who attacked the Capitol in the January 6th insurrection and those who attempted to overturn the 2020 election results.

Whatever you think of this speech the military is supposed to be apolitical. Positioning Marines in uniform behind President Biden for a political speech flies in the face of that. It's wrong when Democrats do it. It's wrong when Republicans do it.

"'I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence, fails to condemn violence when it's used, refuses to acknowledge an election has been won, insists upon changing the way in which the rules and we count votes, that is a threat to democracy. Your level of mendacity is immeasurable! How do you live with yourself?

The president's comments were in answer to a question from Fox News' Peter Doocy who asked if Biden considered ALL Trump supporters to be a threat to the country less than a day after he blasted "MAGA Republicans" in a speech Thursday.

"You keep trying to make that case. I don't consider any Trump supporters a threat to the country," Biden said. "I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence, refuses to acknowledge an election ... changing the way you count votes, that is a threat to democracy."

In the Thursday speech, Biden also said that "not every Republican, not even a majority Republicans are MAGA Republicans."

This.

Let's take Biden's most fundamental claim about the MAGA-fied GOP and democracy:

"Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic."

Biden elaborated:

"MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election."

Some Republicans insist they do respect the Constitution and the rule of law. But Biden carefully distinguished between MAGA and non-MAGA Republicans, casting only the former in these terms.

Here's the most basic point of all. Despite screams that Biden's speech was dictatorial and cast MAGA as the enemy, he said this:

"There are far more Americans, far more Americans from every background and belief, who reject the extreme MAGA ideology than those that accept it. And folks, it's within our power, it's in our hands, yours and mine, to stop the assault on American democracy."

That's a call for Americans to defeat Trump and MAGA in a manner that is peaceful and democratic. Biden is saying that an anti-MAGA majority exists in this country that can and must mobilize to stabilize our system.

And the idea that this majority is out there and exists for the rousing - well, that's what enrages Republicans most of all.

Napolitano:

Even a cursory review of the redacted version of the affidavit submitted in support of the government's application for a search warrant at the home of former President Donald Trump reveals that he will soon be indicted by a federal grand jury for three crimes: Removing and concealing national defense information (NDI), giving NDI to those not legally entitled to possess it, and obstruction of justice by failing to return NDI to those who are legally entitled to retrieve it."

He added that whether or not the documents were classified or not is irrelevant, as "it is simply and always criminal to have NDI in a non-federal facility, to have those without security clearances move it from one place to another, and to keep it from the feds when they are seeking it."
