Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet next week in Uzbekistan ...

More from the article...

...The meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization -- a political, economic and security forum that China and Russia dominate -- comes at delicate times for both leaders, and it would be their second face-to-face meeting this year.

Putin is dealing with the economic and political fallout of his war in Ukraine that has left Russia more isolated -- and defiant. Xi faces rising tensions with the West over the status of Taiwan and China's treatment of Uyghurs and other mostly Muslim ethnic groups.

Russia's ambassador to China told reporters Wednesday that the two would meet in the Uzbek city of Samarkand on Sept. 15-16. Then Putin confirmed it himself, telling top Chinese legislator Li Zhanshu at an economic forum in Russia that "we will see each other with President Xi Jinping soon, I hope, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan."

The visit to Uzbekistan, if it goes ahead, would be part of Xi's first foreign trip in 2 1/2 years. Xi has only left mainland China once -- to make a one-day visit to the semi-autonomous city of Hong Kong - since the COVID-19 outbreak exploded in early 2020....

Ebn Ozn - AEIOU Sometimes Y

Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore

I was walking up Broadway, you know
And there's this incredible looking Swedish girl having a cappuccino across the street from Lincoln Center
I started talking to her, you know
And she said her name was Lola
Her English wasn't too good, you know
But we wound up spending about 5 hours together just hanging out, you know
So we go back to my place, we get high, and we get really into each other, man
It was love about to happen, I'm serious
And then all of a sudden she gets up and she says
She says, "Hey, I really gotta leave"

My guess is that Pootey directs his gaze downwards as he presents his begging bowl to Xi.

@#4 ... My guess is ..

My guess is that Pres Putin is looking for any port in a storm, that things have gotten so bad for him that be seems to be wiling to bargain with an enemy.

The Sundays - Here's Where The Story Ends

People I know, places I go
Make me feel tongue-tied
I can see how people look down
They're on the inside

Here's where the story ends

People I see, weary of me
Showing my good side
I can see how, people look down
I'm on the outside
Here's where the story ends
Ooh, here's where the story ends

It's that little souvenir of a terrible year
Which makes my eyes feel sore
Oh, I never should have said the books that you read
Were all I loved you for
It's that little souvenir of a terrible year
Which makes me wonder why
And it's the memories of the shed that make me turn red
Surprise, surprise, surprise

Crazy, I know, places I go
Make me feel so tired
I can see how people look down
I'm on the outside

What makes you think Xi is an enemy? Russia is not at war with China. They share an interest in taking the US down a few notches as well.

Rethink your worldview.

There's a worldview you're not going to like, and it involves Russia continuing down the road that transforms it into a Chinese vassal state. Well on its way already, so toot-toot. You folks up there at the grungy troll farm in Norilsk, you should be close enough to get the idea. For openers try "nickel," "palladium," and "copper." The people? Promotion to serf status. Bon ----------!

Is Ukraine a U$ Vassal State? Who pays the Piper calls the tune.

Your comments show wishful thinking and desperation, not any real insight into what's going on in either of those two countries.

China needs raw materials. Russia needs finished goods and economic integration.

Both sides gain much. It's a symbiotic relationship. Not the case with Ukraine.

The Ukraine is a beggar nation looking for handouts and crowdfunding.

They are ultimately at the Mercy of the West.

Must really suck to be them.

We all know how reliable the US is when they make commitments.

Israel may be the only exception to that.

Putin has his little tin cup out begging the Chinese for favors. Xi loves this and will end up owning half of Russia in the far east. Russia should have been on the West's side and never invaded Ukraine and instead focused on what the Chinese are up to. I can tell you it is not good.

Why are you so Paranoid about Chinese people anyway? Not too paranoid to shop at WalMart I bet. They supply many items for sale there and everywhere else in the US. Boycott em', they're up to no good I'm sure.

Despite both being communist countries the USSR and China were at best uneasy partners and at times outright antagonists. That didn't changes after the collapse of the USSR or with the move in China toward limited capitalism. It hasn't changed today. What is different today is Putin has now effectively ruined the Russian economy and trade. He is the submissive in this relationship and will do what China wants because he is left with little choice at this point. Yes they will likely form a more symbiotic relationship but do understand China now has significant power over Russia. In other words Russia is now China's ------.

Putin is probably going to beg for arms and ammunition only to be told China is trying to keep its reputation and after covid they are not going to engage in arms sales for a very long time.

See that is where your propaganda goes wrong. Most people are not paranoid against the Chinese people or even anti-Russian. We are against their leaders.

In my role, I will no longer accept electronics from Chinese owned companies. I have to do this to protect my company from Chinese back doors. Of course we buy items made in China because there is no way around it today.

As for myself - I have never made a habit of shopping WalMart. Even when I was struggling. I think I have bought something at WalMart for myself maybe 5 or 6 times in my life because that is where I could get it at the time. WalMart is a symbol of everything that is wrong with unfettered capitalism. Don't buy a TCL or Vizio TV, Huawei anything, Lenovo computers, etc. It is 100% foolish no matter how you look at it.

India, Turkey, Indonesia, Brazil, most of Africa, The Russians don't just sell to China.

That's like saying Europe is the US's bitch. Is it?

Maybe NATO is but Europe? Bottom Line, countries align with each other all the time.

Maybe Russia is a supplicant, or not, I don't know. I do know both nations want to humble the West.

I hope they do.

Let me 'splain it to ya. You are right - Russia does trade with all of them. Which of them can bail out Russia economically? Which of them would bail Russia out economically? Why would that "partner" do so?

Russia is buying military gear from North Korea and probably China (if not now soon) instead of selling it - who else can even remotely supply them? Not Iran (although it seem Iranian quality is poor too - not the drone issues). India could probably supply ammo but India has it's own concerns. Xi has always had his eyes on Siberia so this works out for China. See China sits on a long bit of Russia's border in the sparsely populated east that is full of natural resources China needs.

It's not at all like saying Europe is the US's bitch. Europe in general is in pretty good shape minus the current energy redistribution shuffle while Russia's economy is beginning to tip from sanctions. Of course in the 1940s and 1950s you could have made that argument as Europe was being rebuilt. But we didn't force anything on them like people like to talk about the US doing that to countries but communist dictators and indeed dictators in general work inherently differently.

Did we force anything on Iraq? They sure got a lot of American weapons in the 80s. Saddam was our pal.

How about Panama, did we force anything on them? Our Buddy too. We just love to invade our friends.

The Afghans are being starved after all of our concern for their freedoms and all. 20 years of regime change and now we've Stolen their monetary reserves, for their own good, mind you.

With friends like the US maybe Russia's pals are better off.

China turned a regional epidemic into a global epidemic.

America created a number of effective vaccines.

Russia sold other countries snake oil and said it was a cure.

"China turned a regional epidemic into a global epidemic."

Come on.
People did that.
Air travel did that.

The Chinese government covered up just how bad things were.

To their credit their actions were not out of malice but out of shame.

I can't say the same about Putin.

"Why are you so Paranoid about Chinese people anyway?"

I'm not.

Why are you so incapable of grasping even rudimentary points? Come on, kiddo, it's September. Norilsk troll farmers can keep the windows open, fresh air circulating, until winter's wallop. Give it a try. Might work wonders.
