The move by DeSantis dominated the radio and television airwaves in South Florida -- where large swaths of Hispanic voters live.

Gov DeSantis cares little abut Florida.

Florida was just a stepping stone for him in his far greater political ambitions.

Gov DeSantis is willing to lose Florida in order to gain support of Trump supporters across the Untied States.

Of course, that begs the question... should Gov DeSantis win the Oval Office, who will he be willing to sell out for even greater political gain?

I think guys like this are too caught in their own bubble. They seem to forget that TFG barely squeaked by on a technicality the first time and lost bigly the second. I don't think the majority of Americans want policies like this.

No kidding it could.

Human trafficking is frowned upon S FL for some reason.

Imagine that.

Who could have predicted?

Not our rwingers here.

Misguided tools that they are, selling out for big corporations.

DeathSentence needs to be retired.

@#4 ... retired ...

But he seems to be the Republican shoo-in if fmr Pres Trump decides not to run.

Why would Republicans gravitate towards such an apparent low-life like Gov DeSantis?

Do Republicans really hate Democrats and citizens of this Country with that level of fervor that they would embrace someone who is engaging in apparent human trafficking?

Has the party I joined when I first registered to vote here in this town gone so far astray that they would embrace someone like Gov DeSantis?

(aside: so far, no local Republicans have knocked on my door to chat. That's odd....)

From what I see in on-line comments...yes. Cons are praising DeS to the sky.

It's amazing; DeathSentence has the soothing voice of a braying donkey, the speaking style of a third grader presenting a report on a book they have not read, the handsome good looks of your local garbage man, and the charisma of raw chicken. All he has is the cruelty that the Reich loves. If DeathSentence runs and wins the GQP primary, he will lose bigley with independent voters. Depending on who the Dems put up, he could lose by 15 million or more votes. If he loses FL this cycle, it will pierce his cloak of inevitably for 2024 and I suspect end his chances of winning the primary.

Any links for that?

He ought to be arrested on many counts of kidnapping. I'm guessing transporting kidnapped people across state lines is a separate offense.

Jewish folk in Florida had better be paying attention to this. In one scenario, they are next...

Are you serious? You think DeSantis is coming after Jews?

#11 | Posted by eberly at 2022-09-19 09:37 AM | Reply

Probably not from DeSantis himself, but the gun-fetishists and other freaks he and the GOP are fronting for? You betcha.

#12 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2022-09-19 09:37 AM | Reply

In the past I would have agreed 100% that stunts like the MV thing and many other comments, policies, etc. would really hurt DeSantis with those voters but I don't understand Florida politics very well if this happens.......

"Trump's strong performance in Miami-Dade helped him win 46% of Florida's Hispanic vote, compared with 35% in 2016, according to exit polls."

I've never seen anyone insult minorities and immigrants more than Trump and somehow he managed gain ground

So, the Jews are in jeopardy? How so? What do you suppose they have planned for them?

If by "they" you're referencing "the gun-fetishists and other freaks he and the GOP are fronting for" - the subject of my post - then I'd urge you to contemplate what the hateful "We will not be replaced" chant coming from that quarter is about and towards which parties it's directed. Remember, the RNC declared the reprehensible who showed up at the Capitol on 1/6 engaged in "legitimate political discourse." There's been a helluva lot of water gushing under the bridge the last few years, with permission sought and received from those on-high.

With all that's going on in recent days, many missed that during Trump's Nazi rally Saturday night he called for the execution of human traffickers and the crowd went wild.

Anyone with two firing neurons knows this was a swipe at Ron DeSantis and his Martha's Vineyard stunt. But quite funny coming from Trump nonetheless.

IMO, it's the "he's not talking about ME, he's talking about all those others of my tribe who haven't assimilated to (white) society like I have" types, or those who want to be accepted as equals by the majority while themselves making the same complaints of fellow tribesmen and tribeswomen.

It's like Boaz failing to realize that the doors he was able to walk through to gain his success were opened by people like my father, a Tuskegee Airmen pilot and thousands of others who were not able to rise in the military and have equal economic nor social status in their civilian lives due to the prejudice and systemic racism existent in their paths.

In many ways Clarence Thomas might also fit this bill. There is nothing wrong with working hard and achieving success due to one's own efforts, but it's another thing to deny - but for time and place - those opportunities might not have been available for you or others who look like you because that was the way our society operated for the better part of this nation's existence.

I still think it's a two-fer. One thing Trump does is stay up on current events. He knows that DeSantis has opened himself up to criminal investigation because he picked one of the few states in America with an inveiglement law to pull his inhuman stunt in. But I don't disagree on Q. The problem is there aren't going to be any Democrats to charge because they don't kidnap children as a matter of political expression.

Are you TRYING to prove how stupid right wingers are?

Quickest way for anyone to get rich is to rip off trumpers.

Trump couldn't succeed in any business til he discovered he could just ask morons to send him money and they'd do it as long as he told them they were smart and mexicans are bad.

#8 latest polls show Crist, a candidate as exciting as metamucel, is in a statistical tie with DeathSentence, the darling of the MAGAt Reich and the incumbent in what has become a reliably red state. DeathSentence appears to have turned off plenty of independent voters if that's the polling in a state where the incumbency if he's doing as good a job as Faux Spews keeps telling the braindead should give him a significant edge, imagine what happens in States with greater sanity.

I think you mean covid death numbers. California leads economically. It's hard to lead economically when your state is full of morons and people waiting to die.

MSNBC did a man-on-the-street story about this today in Miami and the comments there weren't what this article indicates. While every Hispanic interviewed was against DeSantis' relocations, to a person they still said there were other things/issues that they supported him over. Not a one of them said these acts would cause them to change their support of DeSantis.

It's just a very limited, non-scientific snippet, but it still appears to be representative of the feelings of many in the community regarding his support within it.
