Florida Democrats face big hurdles in wooing Hispanic voters

Republicans have made major gains with Hispanic voters in Florida over the past two election cycles, leaving Democrats scrambling to find ways to reverse the trends with Puerto Rican, Cuban and Venezuelan voters.

Thats right Lumper bury your head in the sand and hope. The more woke the elite Dems, like yourself have become the more Hispanics, et al will leave.

Nothing like defending DragEvents for children, or disparaging the Catholic Church to drive away Hispanic middle class.

But hey you Lumpers know best, Nancy getting boo'd at a climate event shows everything is just going "perfect", am I right?

According to Republican Math, that's "leaning" Republican!

Libs need to stop with this Latinx stuff.

Latinos are not fond of it in any way and find it insulting considering it stems from liberal elites and "scholars" attempting to penetrate the Latino academia culture that has been growing in the US for decades.

Take it from me, an educator in SoCal: Latinos are not fond of non-Latinos pushing this. Every time someone mentions Latinx in a meeting, there's an obvious cringe amongst many of us. And I'm not even Latino. But the Latinos in the room are more and more up front suggesting that referring to them as Latinx is simply not necessary. Worse, it undermines legitimacy of people trying to make a point. Some in our leadership are being laughed at because they think they HAVE to use the term when they don't. Nobody but the Libs are demanding people use such terminology.

Time for the Left to swallow it.

I don't think so, Tiny Dancer.

The term exists to help address the intersectionalities that exist between gender identification and the nation's largest marginalized population.

In short, it's about inclusiveness and not being an -------.

Take it from me, an educator in SoCal

"Take it from me, a White Colonizer ------- who wants to dictate what can or can't be acceptable inclusive language based on what makes me 'cringe'".

"Libs need to stop with this Latinx stuff."

I read earlier today that they are floating a new term: "Latine."

That's new to me. What's it refer to?

#10 | Posted by rstybeach11 at 2022-09-27 12:49 AM | Reply

It's a substitute for Latinx.

Latine. Pronounced Lah-tee'-nay

It certainly sounds better than Latinx, which is clumsy as heck.

Personally, I don't know what is wrong with the proper term Latino.

#12 | Posted by BellRinger at 2022-09-27 01:17 AM | Reply

It's heteronormative and not inclusive.

Don't forget paternalistic.

Whatever, I don't get it, the latinx, latino naming conventions. We have 2 grandchildren and four great grandchildren that are TexMex. None of those terms are something that has come up in any conversation at any family function.

Latino is masculine, Latina is feminine, the X is meant as a variable/fluid. Which if the Lumpers really thought about it, it's incredibly insulting to a language and a culture to try to change it.

Latinx came from the Latino/Latina gay community. It didn't come from 'liberals' or from 'white' non-hispanic/non-Latino/a "others."

And "hispanic" is not really interchangeable with "Latino/Latina" unless you specifically know what the terms mean, you understand the applicability of using it, and who you are addressing. For instance you'd never call a Brazilian a "hispanic."

Italians aren't hispanic. Portuguese are not hispanic.

Argentinians are mostly Italian by descent. As far as I can tell they're only considered "hispanic" because they speak a dialect of Spanish. It's a strange world when you start trying to label everyone.

"liberal elites and "scholars" attempting to penetrate the Latino academia culture"

Those are two different things?

It was explained here recently that latinx was some sort of lgbtq term for the Latino community?
