Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

US Rep. Adam Schiff, who serves on the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, insurrection, says that if the panel makes a criminal referral for former President Donald Trump related to the riot at the US Capitol, it should be made unanimously.

If the reason some members don't want to do a criminal referral is because of Trump's prior status as president, they are hypocrites. They can't take a position that "no man is above the law"; that "Trump should be treated like any other citizen" and then turn around and take a position that Trump shouldn't be prosecuted because he is a former president and that there might be political consequences. If a criminal referral for John/Jane Doe would be warranted under similar circumstances, it should be warranted for Trump.

The same reasoning applies for subpoenaing Trump and/or Pence. Just because the report has to be written is no reason to not issue a subpoena. If the repubs take control of congress in 2023, let them bear the weight of withdrawing the subpoena.

Dems always seem to over think these things: if you think the man is a criminal, make the referral.

Just do what you think is right and deal with the consequences!

The committee should turn over their evidence to DOJ regardless of how they feel about pressing charges against Trump. Are all committee members qualified to to assess criminality? Their focus will be more on the political ramifications of charging an ex-POTUS, not on criminal law. Sure, make a recommendation, but assessing criminally is DOJ's job. Turn everything over to them, or a independent investigator.

---- independent investigation. Keep the banana republic thing going right? Its going to work out so well in the polls, everyone is behind it right?

I am super happy the D's spent 2yrs of their political capital on this instead of helping the middle class, crime, the economy, or poor people of the country. We could have taken the mid terms easily if we focused on the issues.

Nancy Pelosi being boo'd at a climate change concert just looks so "positive" for us.

Only an idiot would want to keep this fiasco going.

Seriously. Anything done in that sense would have been labeled stuff from the "free ---- fairy." My in-laws have proven this already. So, ---- the "free ---- fairy" and seek justice even if it's not popular.

Someone has to stand up against blatant corruption, even in the face of losing elections. Refusing to do so simply breeds more and more significant corruption.

A classic exposition of deflection.

What those subjects have to do with the potential criminality of the Buffoon's administration is nothing.

Deflection at it's base.

Most government employees with inflation adjusted pensions are fine. If that's you great. If you don't have an inflation adjusted pension and are a member of the middle class, you are not fine, just ignorant.

Is that so? Speaking for yourself, of course.

Better get out there an attack some capital somewhere. I am sure that will help solve all your problems. Three hots and a cot await you, too.

The second member of the drudge brain trust to argue that high inflation is good. We're listening.

I can't imagine it'd be hard to get a unanimous decision from that committee

Look for Nancy's lips to move when Cheney votes yes.
