He denies it was either fascist or a coup, but he was very angry anyway.

Sincere sorrow at you apparent support for Italian fascism. Your life is too short for nonsense like that.

Not needed, just make it harder for them to buy politicians.

For the ignorant libbies here: 'While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic.'

#7 | Posted by MSgt at 2022-09-26 05:28 PM | Reply

It's funny. Liberals saying that we are "losing democracy", when all they tried to do was turn us into one. And when our laws, constitution and citizens rejected their "change", they say we are destroying democracy. They like to act like we were a democracy all along, when more accurately what's happening is, the country is rejecting what they are trying to turn us into. We were not a democracy to begin with.

While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? "Constitutional" refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States. The Constitution not only provides the framework for how the federal and state governments are structured, but also places significant limits on their powers. "Federal" means that there is both a national government and governments of the 50 states. A "republic" is a form of government in which the people hold power, but elect representatives to exercise that power. ar.usembassy.gov

I put an important word in bold.

Fun Fact:

There's nothing in the Constitution that prohibits a failed Presidential Administration from weaponizing the DOJ against its political opponents.

Actually I had no fear at all, they weren't armed, what chance did they have?

But you run along now propagating lies and fear.

Exactly Clownshack, why SpeaksSoftly is creaming in his pants one will never know.

" Actually I had no fear at all, they weren't armed, what chance did they have?"

Yet another who pretends the main threat wasn't from those already inside the Capitol when Trump began his speech.

The United States is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic, and as such, is inherently undemocratic. And rightly so.

To put "democratic" values above constitutional rule would make you no better than the 1/6 rioters.

There's been some major tweaking done on the political machinery since the time the creators of the Constitution - by the way, you can argue they exceeded their authority and power and suggest the primacy of the Articles of Confederation, but there it is - unveiled the product of their secret labors. Country's changed, too. Far more democratically inclined than in the late-18th century, no legal slavery, women voting, indigenous folk becoming citizens, etc. Channeling the views of the 18th century's propertied class of slave owners, land developers, and merchants is an interesting intellectual exercise. As a plan for contemporary affairs? Ossified.

Which is exactly why a POS criminal like Humpy Trumpy (who acted like they were his personal lawyers) should never be president again.

Where do you get this crap? The people control the government here. The people ARE the government here.

The United States is a democracy and getting more democratic all the time. More people can vote now than ever before here. What planet are you from?

It's just not a pure democracy. But it's a government of the people by the people and for the people. And hopefully it will not perish from this earth. In spite of you and the Republicans.

I have always defined the U.S. as a representative republic. But when fair elections are gone.. when freedom of and from religion is gone.. when freedom of speech is gone, or only replaced by lies, and considering that the only part of the constitution that conservatives really give any credence is the 2nd amendment, we will be a fascist federal republic soon enough.

Especially with our new "originalist" SCOTUS, as the founders originally intended, in the end, mostly wealthy or religious white conservative males will enjoy the privilege's of the Bill of Rights. Women, people of color, and the poor will generally be left with scraps.

"Where do you get this crap? The people control the government here. The people ARE the government here."

Actually, it's governed by the constitution. Which a framing document that defines the limits of governmental power.

You could put forth a ridiculously popular ballot measure, but if it doesn't pass constitutional muster than it will never become law.

And rightly so.

I like your use of the phrase "The people control the government here."

Reminds me off the signs that the ELZN commies post in the areas of Mexico they occupy.

It is a constitutional republic, and as such, is inherently undemocratic.

It's also characterized as a representative democracy.

But you tools know that and obtusely act as if the word democracy means Athenian democracy.

Despite that never being what's meant ever in the context of US politics.

Because the root causes and planners haven't been addressed.

But you know that and think that acting like an obtuse jackass hides that fact.

"Actually, it's governed by the constitution. Which a framing document that defines the limits of governmental power."

Which was created by the People. For the People.

And the People or more accurately their representatives can actually change that constitution. As We the People have done before.

Read our Declaration of Independence again for more clarity on that subject.
