I stumbled across this story from being subscribed to a few National Geographic people on instagram. Horrible way to go, and her last update from the trek (a couple days prior to going missing) is concerning (with regard to current morale and health of the party on the trail).

Alas, if one is called to a life of exploring and adventuring, then going out pursing one's dreams has a romantic tint to the darkness, in a way.

To climb the mountain is a feat in of itself, why did she need to ski down it?

I wonder if she thought, on her way down 2000 feet, "Well, this was a bad idea"..
