The GOP should probably get rid of that pesky Women's Suffrage thingy while they're at it.

After Tuesday, they haven't suggested also eliminating the franchise for women? I'm sure that they will.

More illogical was that some dems promoted the idea of lowering to age 16.

Fascinating... back when I was an ingnue to the democratic voting process... 18-year-olds got the right to vote as a quid pro quo old for being deemed mature enough to kill people on foreign soil... you know... to prevent the spread of communism and stuff.

I cast my first vote @ 19 years of age the first generation of Americans under 21 years of age to do so.

Peter Schiff - When the voting age was 21 by that age most voters were married, had kids, and had been out of school and in the workforce for 8 years. Today most 18 year olds never had a job and still live with their parents. Let's raise the voting age to 28. If I was still 18 I'd support this.

LOL!!!

OK, boomer.

#10 | Posted by Angrydad at 2022-11-11 11:52 AM | Reply

I'll make a trade with them on one condition.
We'll take the 18 year old voting law out of the constitution, ONLY if they fully repeal the 2nd amendment and willingly give up all of their weapons, 100% compliance. If that criteria isnt met then no, they can FO.

Remember when you were an elder teenager? You were going to go out and change the world and make a difference in it. I'd say that's one of the things the GOP is scared to death over. They represent the good ol' boys ways along with throwing the benefits to corporations. Got a public branch? Why not pay political favors by turning it to a private corporation to distribute the benefits? This doesn't do the recipients any favors at all. Payment for those services come out of the same budget as the money the recipients would get, meaning they will get less of those benefits. That doesn't do the public any good at all.

The GOP has already shown so many times with gerrymandering just what is important. They'd rather you couldn't vote if not for them. So limiting the voting age, would go a long ways towards that same goal.

Why am I not surprised?

And I think we need to set a ceiling on the age of voters at 70.

Why?

Because reality is now changing so fast people beyond that age can't always keep up.

And if you're thinking that you're not that old here are some scary facts:

wavy gravy is now making wavy gravy in his pants, We are now much closer to 2050 than 1950, and a song that was a hit in the 1990's was a major part of the Inauguration of Joe Biden.

Who could or even would disagree with that?

Apparently Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Utah. None of them ever ratified the 26th Amendment.

I disagree with the voting part but holding office yeah just like there is a min age to run there should be a max age. 67 is full retirement so I would say no one can run after 67. If they get a senate seat at 67 they can hold it to 73 but can't run again. I was looking at possible presidential candidates for 2024 and 60% of them were over 65 (over 67 by 2024).
