You see, right here is why our country is ------. Claiming that the righteous anger over the attempt to overthrow our government caused more damage than the actual attempt itself. Ignoring for the moment that the perpetrators nearly succeeded, despite being incompetent idiots and owing to the patriotism of a few republicans. The attack on the heart of our country, cause despite it's problems, congress is the heart of our nation-it is where our laws are created, was unprecedented and something I never considered possible in America. but that wretched scum that was our president sent his deluded army at it to overturn an election he lost.
The coup attempt was very large involving the president, his WH staff, some congress people, some senators, state level politicians, farking militias, propaganda media etc. The coup failed because of the actions of a few-Pence for not allowing the SS to whisk him away, the SS for not allowing ------- to go to the Capitol, the few state officials who refused -------'s wishes and threats, Antifa for not taking the bait and showing up for a fight on 1/6.
It failed not because our democracy is somehow immune to such things but because of the incompetence of the perpetrators and again, a few good republicans. The tactics of the coup were varied and are not immediately clear, but the goal on 1/6 was to sow enough chaos to permit delay, delay until ------- had achieved enough uncertainty to wrest control or declare martial law. Members of the coup were advocating for that and fortunately ------- shrunk from making that decision.
For me, that attack was a singular disgusting act and my anger at the perpetrators has only increased over time. This is not over republican or democratic differences but a hatred for someone that wants to destroy the very fabric of our country. ---- them.
