Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, November 23, 2022

For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, a majority of Americans dying from the coronavirus were at least partially vaccinated, according to a new analysis of federal and state data. The waning efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and increasingly contagious strains of the virus being spread to elderly and immunocompromised people have resulted in more deaths among those who have taken at least one vaccine dose, a Washington Post analysis published Wednesday finds. "Fifty-eight percent of coronavirus deaths in August were people who were vaccinated or boosted," the Post reported. The paper described a "troubling trend" as the share of deaths of people who were vaccinated has been "steadily rising" over the past year.

Let's take a look at deaths in August, when the highly contagious BA.5 variant reached its peak:
That month, unvaccinated people aged 6 months and older died at about six times the rate of those who had received their primary series of shots.
People with one booster dose were even better protected. Unvaccinated people over the age of 5 had about 8 times the risk of dying from a coronavirus infection than those who received a booster shot.
Among individuals who were eligible to receive additional booster shots, the gap is even more striking. Unvaccinated people 50 and up had 12 times the risk of dying from covid-19 than adults the same age with two or more booster doses.

Keep pounding the horse paste, MAGAts.

Vaccinated Americans majority of COVID deaths in August

I mean, 80% of Americans have received at least one COVID vaccine dose. So yeah, the vaccinated will account for a higher percentage of fatalities as we approach 100% vaccine uptake.

Righties should be more concerned that 100% of the COVID fatalities involved people who breathe oxygen. You guys should stop inhaling immediately, for freedom!

Math?

Not fair!

the un-jabbed are not the ones dying. Not dying by the millions across the country.

I know how that disappoints so many of you who were depending on millions of dead people.

maybe next time.

"We can no longer say this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,"

Thanks, unvaccinated people!

"Fifty-eight percent of coronavirus deaths in August were people who were vaccinated or boosted"

and

"At least 262,908,216 people or 79% of the population have received at least one dose.:
usafacts.org

So 79% of the population accounted for 58% of the deaths.
Meaning 21% of the population accounted for 42% of the deaths.

Tell us which group is more likely to die from COVID, Republicans!

#8 - Thanks. I was going to do that math. I figured it was going to be stacked against the unvaccinated. Wasn't sure how much. Turns out it's 2.7:1 worse if you're unvaccinated. Almost 3X greater chance of dying from COVID than those that had some level of vaccination (averaged).

Wait, you're less likely to die of COVID if you're vaccinated?

Point is, any -------- could have told you that.
These Republicans are actually stupider than that.
Not only are they stupider than ----, they're proud of it.

Being stupid trolls the libs.

Tell me you know ---- about immunology without telling me you know ---- about immunology.

Says right in your summary...

The waning efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and increasingly contagious strains of the virus being spread to elderly and immunocompromised people have resulted in more deaths among those who have taken at least one vaccine dose

What do the elderly and immunocompromised have in common? That's right! They're immunocompromised and have a poor response to the vaccine! You might as well be saying we now have more people dying from placebo injections than ever before...

Not to mention this says nothing of which dose a person had. If it was a single dose in spring 2021, well...that's disingenuous as ----.

But let's get to the best part, shall we?

For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, a majority of Americans dying from the coronavirus were at least partially vaccinated, according to a new analysis of federal and state data.

So let me get this straight, we're at the end of the 35th month since this started and the 21st month since vaccines became widely available and we're just NOW seeing more vaxxed dying than unvaxxed (by raw numbers, which, as pointed out, is expected...I'm sure per capita shows a very different story...) and Gracie's response is "yeah! take that stupid science people!"?

Are you f&^%ing kidding me?

Of course not. That's exactly what I'd expect a brain dead, stupid pile of ---- like Gracie to say. In fact, it's her constant and reliable habit of making these types of statements that tells me she's a brain dead, stupid pile of ----. (well, the brain dead, stupid part...the pile of ---- is more based on her pride in her stupidity)

Fox News' Lindsay Kornick contributed to this report.

Figures.

I swear, Fox "news" is a social experiment to see how much dumb ---- people will believe. An updated version of the Milgram experiments whereby people of authority are replaced by the media.

That is one of the lasting legacies of DJT; he brought stupid people out of the closet. At one time, stupid people followed the old adage "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt". Trump changed all that.

@#9 ... You are welcome. ...

From the cited article...

... Those who have been vaccinated are seeing the capability of the vaccine's defenses fade over time. That happens with some vaccines.

The virus has been mutating to bypass the defenses created by the vaccine. It is similar to the United States being attack by an enemy, the US successfully defending against that enemy, and then the enemy finds ways to bypass the defenses.

So, why does your alias seem to be cheering on the enemy in its fight against the United States?

"That is one of the lasting legacies of DJT; he brought stupid people out of the closet."

Weird Al Yankovic did that first, so Trump can't even claim credit for that.

Isn't that a bit like saying those who opposed the Patriot Acts seemed to be cheering on the enemy in its fight against the United States?

@#17 ... Weird Al Yankovic did that first ...

No, Weird Al did not do it from the Oval Office and the Presidential Press Podium.

No comparison whatsoever.

It is sad (for your alias) that your alias actually thinks that would be a valid comparison.

It's funny how partisan hacks just casually handwave things away as "totally different" when their behavior is clearly parallel to other partisans. "You're either with us, or you're with the [enemy]" for not fully supporting the response to the threat.
