The US supreme court justice's history with the People of Praise raises questions about her impartiality in upcoming case

"In the year 2000, exit polls reported that 25% of my voters would have voted for Bush, 38% would have voted for Gore and the rest would not have voted at all" (which would net a 13%, 12,665 votes, advantage for Gore over Bush)."

This court case and Judge shouldn't exist.

If ever a moment in the last 30 years derailed an intended time line this was it.

Any time travelers out there would be well advised to end his campaign.

Preferably something involving sex.

She won't step away. How would she be able to apply her anti-gay position to the case if she did?

@#2 ... She won't step away. ...

I agree.

How else could she be able to apply her prejudices to the Law of this Country? She cannot do that by recusing herself, as law would suggest.

Like Judge Thomas, her purpose on the Court is not to provide unbiased judgement, her purpose on the Court is to provide cover. And in the case of Justice Thomas, apparent cover for his wife's political escapades.

And don't get me started about Justice Alito's apparent transgressions and maybe leaks.

But this is exactly what the Federalist Society wanted as they were grooming judges for the Supreme Court.

It is just another bad behavior of the Republicans that they accuse the Democratic of doing.

Grooming for the Supreme Court?

Grooming in schools?

I mean really....

Can anyone actually defend Barrett's testimony at her Senate Confirmation Hearings? How was it not perjury? There are other members of the court guilty of the same thing. No winder mosr Americans do not have confidence that the present court can be fair and impsrtial.

She ought to be impeached and removed from the bench.

Doesn't it work both ways? If folks can constantly require a religious exemption, then shouldn't they also be exempted from certain activities because of their religion?

What a wonderful educational tool this thread is.

We can call it...

" McCarthyism, 68 years later, OR how the voices of dissent became the voices of the crazed mob.

Barrett recusing herself is about as likely as my Retriever walking away from an Easter hambone.

From the Guardian article:

Conservatives have also lashed out against any suggestion that her affiliation with a Christian sect could compromise her independence.

I'm sure we call all expect the same reaction from the conservatives when, say, a Muslim is put up for SCOTUS, amirite?

She was put on the Court to vote her religion. You can bet she'll do it.

Justice Thomas didn't have to step away from a ruling that affected his wife. Why on earth would Any step away? It's exactly why she was put there. To inject her religulous beliefs into every ruling and into your life.

Barrett is the living penalty we must pay for allowing Trump to be elected President and because of our ridiculous liferime appointments for SC Justices she will be there punishing America for a very long time. We need a complete overhaul of rverything to do with the SC. Probably the easiest way to deal with Barrett and other right wing Justices would be to pack the court with more Justices who are moderates. rhe conservative majority is dangerous to democracy. They have the power to overrule the majority of voters and probably would as they did in Bush v Gore simply because that is who they wanted to win. We need to limit the power of the conservative majority before they disenfranchise women or allow prison for ------ between consenting adults or even crazier things. True Fascists are loving the cueewnt power imbalance.

Just remember, the right is not about fairness. They care only about power. They will continue to attack every civil liberty we have secured over the last couple of centuries. Unless, of course, the freedom to fetishize killing devices.
