China's Jiang Zemin has died. That could be a problem for Xi Jinping

Was Zemin the old fart unceremoniously escorted out of the Communist Congress about two weeks ago? It made international news. And if so, do we yet know why he was taken away like that?

Nope. Hu Jintao. I doubt this old dude could walk.

There were rumors that Jiang passed away numerous times since he hadn't been seen in public for years. I remember a Chinese friend telling me a few years ago about power plays going on behind the scenes when it was believed he was gone or incapacitated.

The guy who was led away a couple of weeks ago was Hu, the one who replaced Jiang when he stepped down in 2003.
