Time magazine has named Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy 2022's "Person of the Year" for his courage in the face of Russia's invasion and for inspiring Ukrainians to remain steadfast and resist Russia's full-scale invasion, which it launched in late February.

Zelensky does deserve recognition. He stood his ground (with a heck of a lot of assistance from the USA) rather than flee as I believe most others would have in his situation.

On the other hand, if there is an equivalent of the incompetent ----- of the year award, I nominate Vladimir Putin. What a joke he has become!

Given the recent self-soiling, I would suggest some sort of raspberry award. Perhaps we can create one in his honor, and call it The Pooty. The trophy can include a miniature statue of Putin throwing a tantrum on the floor while wearing a loaded diaper.

Trump for all of his imperfections told Putin if he invaded Ukraine he could expect a nuke to be dropped on Moscow. There's a reason Putin didn't invade, he knew the consequences of taking such action.

Hilarious... T-rump had been courting Vlad for years trying to get a Trump Moscow Hotel permit.

Now, he might have nuked Russia if he didn't get the permit, but never for invading their neighbor.

Rwing authoritarian nationalist oligarch dictators have to stick together after all.

Which commonalities various books and articles are confirmed by various multiple conservative and liberal experts in those subjects.

Of course, they use facts, which isn't fair to the dupes that vote for authoritarians.

They are by definition lemmings, in search of someone in black leotards and a whip.

Also they don't read much.

Considering it came directly from his mouth, yes that would be a direct source. Anyways ... to fully answer Snoofy's question. I don't support Authoritarian Ex-Communists nor do I support Nazis. Which is why I really don't believe this "fight" concerns the good people of our land. Furthermore if we and the Europeans actually wanted to do something about it we would have already declared war and ended this. But we won't, so again ... it doesn't matter.

Zelensky paid tribute to the freedom fighters of his country"and around the world in a video message. Nearly 10 months have passed since Russian forces invaded Ukraine, and since then Zelensky has emerged as a prominent world leader in his efforts to lead Ukraine's battle for independence. "It is an honor for me to represent the struggle of Ukrainians and the spirit of Ukraine, the spirit of freedom that echoes in the souls of so many people around the world," Zelensky said. "This is the free world spirit, and let's do everything for our spirit to win." Zelensky's speech honored the brave doctors, farmers, journalists, and human rights lawyers, along with ordinary people, who stepped up to help the war effort. He also thanked those who supported Ukraine in its fight for freedom.

Moreover, labeling enemies Nazis is a common political ploy in Russia, especially from a leader who favors disinformation campaigns and wants to stir up feelings of national vengeance against a WWII foe to justify conquest.
