NO! Just ------- NO! It's time to take a stand against this Left/Democrat/progressive destruction of culture, decency and respect/good order.

Liberals are always trying to ruin something..

It was one suggestion and the "Woke Academics" want instructors to be called by their Rank in order to reinforce rank order rather than gender...which is what they do 95% of the time already.

That is literally the height of culture, decency and respect/good order. So of course Boaz has a problem with it.

From the cited article...

...The 738-page academic report, commissioned by the Marine Corps in 2020 and completed in 2022, argues that half of U.S. military services have already rid themselves of "gendered identifiers" for training staff.

The Army, Navy, and Coast Guard effectively de-emphasize gender in an integrated environment," the academic report from the University of Pittsburgh says.

"Instead of saying ma'am' or sir,' recruits in these Services refer to their drill instructors using their ranks or roles followed by their last names.

Gendered identifiers prime recruits to think about or visually search for a drill instructor's gender first, before their rank or role."

Seems reasonable to me. What's the big deal?

What's the big deal?

Republicans want to immediately know if you were born with a dick or if they can rape you.

Changing pronouns will confuse their natural responses.

Maam is a sign of respect.

Sir is a sign of respect.

Liberals dont like respect they have to earn. They want to go past all that having to work for it stuff. Either just give it to them or get rid of it altogether.

I really hate what liberals/Democrats/progressives are doing to this nation.

Yeah, I can see that.

Can't think of a similar non-gendered term of respect at the moment. Wonder if one exists in the English language.

"Gunnery Sergeant Hartman" is non-gendered, and pretty much the point of this article.

@#8 ... Maam is a sign of respect.

Sir is a sign of respect....

Oh, I agree.

... Liberals dont[sic] like respect they have to earn. ..

Yeah, that's where we disagree.

Even the US Military seems to disagree with your view...As was noted in my earlier comment.

So, please explain to me how addressing a superior in the military by that person's rank or title, instead of a sex-oriented appellation, is disrespectful.

Really, yer up.

As you may know, and to channel Alf, I'm all ears.

Yer up.

You're so comically angry at perceived insults you can't even see you're arguing against yourself.
A term like "sir or "ma'am is not earned respect, it's immediately given to someone because of their gender.
However, focusing on a rank or role, something someone had to work hard for many years to earn, is exactly what you want.

"Masta" was also considered a sign of respect-- but only towards the one on the receiving end.

Den those damn libruls came and took dat away!

Yup.

But there is the ~you can lead a horse to water...~ aspect to the poster's comments.

To me, use of sir and maam is no more nor less than a show of respect.

In my early '70s Army bootcamp addressing a Drill Sergeant as Sir, there were no females, was usually met with something along lines; "Sir, don't call me sir, I work for a f*****g living." A reference to officers.

I use the terms daily with any and all persons with whom I interact. It's just a courteous habit taught to me by my Grandfather born in 1896.

'Your highness'?

OTOH, that would require them legalizing 'highness' at the federal level, so it's no go for now.

Ma'am is a sign of respect.
Sir is a sign of respect.

Is it?

Do you only call people you respect Sir or Ma'am?

Or simply anyone of a higher ranking than you?

You are a traitor.

Exactly.

So who really cares if traitors like Bozo gets his fee fees hurt.

The Marines will take care of themselves just fine no matter what any insurrectionists think about it.

Jarheads and squids go through bootcamp. The army guys and gals go through Basic training. Maybe the army changed this in the late seventies when I went in but not that I know of.

All this talk of preferred pronouns, why isn't there preferred salutations?

Rank is easier... it's right there on the uniform. I'm sure a corporal choosing to identify as a captain would be in a world of ----.
