Democracy Won 2022
E.J. Dionne Jr: We have become so accustomed to bad news, crisis and dysfunction that it's hard to accept the ways in which 2022 was a surprisingly good year for democracy, innovative government action and even a degree of social peace.

Democracy won abroad. Not so sure it won here at home.
One might say, "Democracy won in America in 2022...barely."

We won an important skirmish in a running battle.
I'm surprised there wasn't an assassination attempt on Joe Biden.

I'm surprised anyone would even post this. This is 100% proof-positive example that Dems only want what is best for them in America. They don't care that we have 330+ million people, half of which don't agree with them. Nope, all that matters is they win and control everything. To do the math for you kids, that's over 150m people who don't hold the same opinions as you do. And neither opinion is right or wrong. And nothing Reps have done has impacted democracy in any way...they play the same game Dems do in taking all advantages to win at any cost. But if you do that and don't agree with Dems, all of a sudden democracy is on the line.
The good part is that it is only the media and Dem politicians spreading this garbage by borrowing a page out of Reagan's strategy...if you can't get an easy win, declare war on social issues and make everyone who doesn't agree with it seem like bad people. Congratulations on emulating Reagan, I heard it's the sincerest form of flattery.

Project much Hummer? P-u-u-u-u-u-lease...
the Dems never have, nor ever will, try to overthrow the legitimately elected govt.
Your party can no longer say the same. Indeed, it looks to be its Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) moving forward. Lose an election, whine about it. Say its unfair. Declare an uprising. Sound familiar? It is the clarion call of the Snowflake Right.
p.s. Reagan is overrated, his Admin is the one that invented Trickle Down Economics. Something we are still wrestling with 40+ years later.

#4 Russiagate anyone? Trying to remove a duly elected president with false evidence created by his opponents. Try and be a tiny bit informed.

#8 LOL, the article is over 2 years old before the false evidence was exposed. C'mon Corky, you can pull that with Dems but not the rest of the population.

Nonsense. You just made that up.
Or, you could prove that it happened... we'll wait....

IN reality, the majority of america agrees with dems on most issues. That's why democracy is now republicans' enemy #1. The only thing your party can agree on is VOTING MUST BE STOPPED!
Social issues is all you have. Failed fascist coup on live tv? Just tell everyone the other side wants to pervert your kids!

So why wouldnt trump testify under oath if he was so innocent? Why did he commit criminal obstruction of justice 10 times to stop everyone from learning how innocent he was?

The only way MAGAts thought the virus could be stopped was by halting all testing for the virus. Similarly, the only way MAGAts think they can stay in power is to ensure more people are unable to vote.
It's the reality they are fixing to ignore. That's their ONLY platform.

What? Putting lipstick on a pig again? 2022 in the USA was a disaster for many with widespread environmental destruction with hundreds of thousands of USA citizens impoverished and sleeping in the streets. Inflation has ravaged the country with price increases unlike anything ever seen before. Not only in the USA but around the whole world people are without shelter and starving. And what does Biden do? He gives away $43 billion to Ukraine!

"2022 in the USA was a disaster for many ... with hundreds of thousands of USA citizens impoverished and sleeping in the streets"
OMG! That's almost one-tenth of one percent!!!
Meanwhile more than 1 in 6 Russians live below the poverty line.

Fact is, that in spite of USA propaganda Russia is getting stronger. Now almost half the world is against the USA. Turkey, Russia, Syria, Belarus, China, Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, just to name several. India too is gravitating to siding with Russia. Iran may make a drone for $20,000 or so. But it takes a USA weapon costing millions to shoot it down. So tell me. Who will endure? One in six Russians live below poverty line? Well...close to 50% of USA citizens are impoverished and can expect worse as interest rates and commodity prices continue to increase. Biden has had some victories to be sure, just like Trump -- immoral though they may be. In the USA we are choked with massive immigration, high inflation, escalating crime, injustice in the courts, increasing interest rates, joblessness, etc. All this war in Ukraine has done to the Russians is to point out their weaknesses. They will implement new battle tactics and weapons, and in the process get stronger.

#19 - There is simply no way anyone truly believes this. Nobody. Not even Vlad The Sad. Stating that Russia is getting stronger is beyond laughable. It would take years for them to build enough equipment to give their Ukraine debacle another shot. With economic sanctions still in place, that timeline goes up significantly. Russia is dead, dude. It will emerge from this madness as a shell of it's former self, crippled for decades.
If you think the USA doesn't have the resolve to keep pumping cash and equipment into the conflict, you haven't been paying attention for the past 50 years. Defeating Russia by signing checks and letting the great people of Ukraine borrow some of our older equipment is a bargain for us. Thanks for making it easy, Vlad. Had he decided to simply join this century and play nicely with the international community, instead of trying to fulfill cold war fantasies of "NATO Aggression", his country would have just continued the slow wither of kleptocrat rot from within. Now the demise is hastened. And the VAST VAST majority of the USA has their popcorn buckets already in-hand watching the Russian state collapse in real time. What an amazing age we live in.
