@#2 ... continue Putin can surrender at any time ...

Pres Putin does not need to suffer the ignominy of surrendering.

He should just retreat and abandon the occupied areas of the sovereign country of Ukraine.

See? So simple.

An easy solution to this war.

#2 | Posted by LampLighter at 2023-01-11 09:22 PM | Reply

Won't happen.

Why doesn't the Ukraine just accept that the Donbass is Gone, returned to Russia. Simple, the war's over, just like that. The border gets adjusted and life goes on without any more war.

Peace breaks out and there's no more fighting.

It's so Easy I can't believe that they haven't done it yet.

It's not like the Donbass even wanted to be part of Ukraine, the freedom fighters voted to secede. Ukraine fought them to make them stay.

Russia is just helping it's little sister.

It's probably for the best two since Ukraine doesn't have the resources to support all the Russian soldiers that would be surrendering.

@#3 ... Why doesn't the Ukraine just accept ...

Why should Ukraine "just accept" Pres Putin's unprovoked invasion of a sovereign Ukraine?

Really.

Why?

Why should Russia just pack up and pull out? I mean really, why?

The people of the East in Ukraine clamored of succor from Russia.

Why should they be left to the throat cutters?

@#6 ... Why should Russia just pack up and pull out? I mean really, why? ...

Simple.

Pres Putin is executing an unprovoked invasion of a sovereign country.

He should not have done that.

I can explain it to you using simpler words. if you need.

The same reason your old man should have pulled out sooner. No good is going to come of this intrusion.

Not that the Ukrainians will repeat the tactical mistakes, but insurgents blew up 10 Leapords from the Turk's 2nd Armored Brigade using Russian anti-tank missiles. Just park them in the rear, the modest advantages over the T-72 aren't worth the logistics liability of hauling them to the front for operations.

We're seeing progress from Ukraine's allies as we step up with tanks. Hope we'll see some F-16's thrown into the mix soon.

The Czechs got it right. Slovakia wanted independence, the Czechs said "no problem". Nobody got hurt. Nothing happened except that instead of one country now there were two.

Yugoslavia got it wrong, hundreds of thousands of deaths and no peace for decades. NATO intervention that set a bad precedent for the future.

Ukraine got it catastrophically wrong, possible world war over the Donbass.

The biggest difference between these events was that Western meddling was non existent in the Czech separation, somewhat limited in Yugoslavia, except for Kosovo. And almost total in the Ukrainian debacle.

But we all know NATO is a peace promoting organization.

Lol.

Maybe 'little sister' wants nothing more to do with the trash. Because they are not trash.

Real world?

Because as bad as the Ukrainians may have been, the Soviets are worse.

They've been there...done that.

Dude, the Soviet Union no longer exists. Live in the now.

If the Eastern Ukrainian populace wants out of a repressive federal structure in Ukraine, to either go it alone or as part of the Federation with Russia, they are seeking self determination. The Ukrainian government just wants the wealth and infrastructure, who's the Bad Guy here?

The Ukrainian government certainly didn't care about the well being of the locals when they were Shelling them for eight years.

A non federal Structure with autonomy for the Donbass,as laid out in the Minsk agreements, would have prevented War. All those deaths could have been prevented.

But the Ukrainian government wanted federal control over everything.

NATO played along and sang the same tune.

Weapons were provided to make the Ukrainians more confident and brazen in negotiations that they ultimately totally ignored with Western connivance.

Now we have a grinding war of attrition, who Benefits?

The Western suppliers of arms and Intell.

The lowest forms of human life, those who foment War for financial gain.

We will have to start calling you EFETECHAMBERLIN after the British Prime Minister that gave away a lot of Europe to the Germans at the onset of WW2. You know "Peace in our time" and all that BS. Putler only understands strength and surrendering part of Ukraine will only enable him to rebuild his army and then attempt to take the rest of Eastern Europe when he is ready to sacrifice more youth upon the alter of fascism. The best thing we can do, this side of sending a cruise missile right down on top of Putler's head, is to keep beating back his failed military campaign with everything we have in the hands of the brave Ukrainians. I can see why the modern equipment was not being sent to Ukraine on the outset of this invasion; the West thought that all that stuff might end up in Putler's hands and give him an advantage with our tech. Now, we trust the Ukrainians to blast the tar out of those fascists and so we might as well give them the tools if not the gosh darn Airborne and Marine division to do so as well as, this is never going to end until the Russians are beaten back to the hovels that came out of and Putler is hanging upside down in the street outside the Kremlin.

No that was pure Russian propaganda you fool. Those heavily armed "green men" that came into Ukraine's east and Crimea in 2013-4 were really Russian soldiers in Special Forces units and intelligence operatives sent in to stir up dissent and cause havoc where there was none before. Anybody with have a brain would know this. Sure, some old Russian speaking Ukrainians may have longed for the stiff hand of Stalin around their necks once again but the vast majority of UKRAINIANS in eastern Ukraine wanted to be close to the west and not under the Russian yoke again. This is why those people are fighting so damn hard to defend their country. You know Ukraine which is not Russia!

#21 | Posted by Wildman62 at 2023-01-12 06:14 PM | Reply

Most of the fighters in the Donbass are locals not Russian servicemen.

That was true in 2014 too. Russia sent "advisors" something we Americans do all the time all over the world. The civil war in the Donbass is indigenous not a Russian import.

Stop reading nonsense.

In addition to tanks coming from Germany, the UK, and others.

"That was true in 2014 too."

It was Wagner. Under the direction of Putin.

The people here give you too much ----, though. You're correct about half the time. Ukraine had a corrupt government that was disliked by almost everyone. I don't remember the timeframe, but there was a poll done where a majority of Ukrainians stated that they preferred the Russia government to their own.

The Russia went and did the impossible. The invaded Donbass and annexed Crimea, and in one fell swoop united the entire country against Russia.

The more successful militarily the Ukrainians are, the more they are going to come into conflict with the west. Crimeans wanted no part of Ukraine. If Ukraine's goal is to recapture it, they are really no better than Russia. Same with parts of the Donbass.

I don't think anyone really knows what the ground truth is with regards to how the populations of Donbass and Crimea on how they feel and what they want. It's entirely possible that even those areas that once favored Russia now don't want any part of it. And it hasn't been talked about, but there is no reason that Crimea and Donbass could not become their own idependent countries. I don't know that Zelensky would like it. But I don't think Putin would accept it at all, as it would add nothing to his goal of restoring the Soviet Republic.

Yes comrades. Some of you still have no idea of why this war is going on over a little bit of land. Let me clue you in. It all has to do with the fact that Zelenskyy is effectively an Israeli. If he were a Christian, Ukraine would have been thrown to the Russian wolves long ago. But you should know by now the degree to which the USA backs Israel with the Holocaust being thrown in your face every week. Never mind the extent to which the USA working with Israelis have slaughtered other countries. Most notable the A-bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki that you almost hear nothing about. Never-the-less, Russia is destined to win this war as Ukraine is turned into a wasteland. Those tanks being advertised to Ukraine are just a token show of support.
