Footage from the 3 January encounter released on Wednesday showed that Keenan Anderson, a 31-year-old high school teacher and father, was begging for help as multiple officers held him down, and at one point said, "They're trying to George Floyd me." One officer had his elbow on Anderson's neck while he was lying down before another Tased him for roughly 30 seconds straight before pausing and Tasing him again for five more seconds.

Here's the footage:

So the discussion is already of to immediate jumping to conclusions.

Lets try the whole video to start:

Or this video of people watching, where one claims he was trying to steal his car. Making this more than just an accident.

Seems like there is more to this...

Here we go with this -------- trying to justify the police murdering someone that was already helpless.

I just watched this video.

This stupid ------------ was incapable of acting like a civilized human being---probably high AF. He created his own drama, for sure.

It's not really the cop's (or society's) problem that he died.

Unfortunate that he'd procreated---although one wonders how much influence he'd actually had in his kids' lives.

Hopefully not much.

No matter the reason for his attempted arrest, this sort of throws a new light on tasing. What is supposed to be a safe way to incapacitate a suspect turns out not to be so safe. Yet it is spread through out law enforcement in this country.

Nothing is "safe" when you're jacked up on coke or Fentanyl and behave in a manner that creates undue stress on yourself when you interact with the world.

No matter the reason for his attempted arrest, this sort of throws a new light on tasing. What is supposed to be a safe way to incapacitate a suspect turns out not to be so safe. Yet it is spread through out law enforcement in this country.

But responsibility does the citizenry share to ensure that when we interact with underpaid public servants whose job it is to enforce the law that we do so appropriately?

The Dirty Little Secret in America is that we don't have a police brutality problem.

We have a respect problem.

And that lack of respect tends to manifest itself most dramatically in black males between the ages of 15 and 25.

We can talk all day about the root causes as to why that is (the decline of the black nuclear family since the implementation of the Great Society and the fact that most black kids grow up in fatherless households) or we can simply be measured and realistic in our responses to events like this when they're over-hyped by the media simply to enrage insulated white liberals.

In the meantime, I'm a big fan of living in a civilized society for the duration that we have one left.

No need to re-tool it to appeal to the behavior of the lowest common denominator among us.

Shame USA comrades. Shame! And so close to Martin Luther King day. Guess what? The problem doesn't exist in Russia, China, or North Korea. And India has a caste system.

The dude was obviously out of control and having a psychotic episode.

They had him pinned and in custody. The tasing was unnecessary, he was already down and not a threat. The Tasing was just to compel total compliance immediately because the cop was frustrated by the man's hysterical behavior.

Not murder, there was no intent to kill. But definitely involuntary manslaughter because the tasing was unnecessary to make the arrest and caused by the cop's impatience.

Not an easy case.

"Not murder, there was no intent to kill."

Yes there was intent to kill.

There was intent to achieve total subjugation of the victim upon pain of death from lethal force.

The intent was to increase violence with no limit until compliance is achieved.

As a matter of fact, police enter every encounter with the intent to kill as a realistic option.

#14 you could tell he was just itching to pull his weapon and mow him down. Did you hear the way he offered to get him some water, savage .

Ah...it seems to be always African Americans struggling against arrest. Keep in mind that there a plenty of schemes out there. I for one advise that if you must join the police, bus drivers, teachers, or ambulance drivers; do so in the safe suburbs. It's become an even worse dog-eat-dog world comrades.

It's "less lethal". Not "non-lethal" or "safe". It's safer, most of the time, than beating somebody detained repeatedly with a baton until they complies. It's a lot safer than just shooting them.

kind of the rub isn't it.

Could also say the victim wasn't going to be arrested without total subjugation of pain and death.

If we let every perp take it to some level then stop, we will have lawlessness.

It's a difficult problem, simply claiming the police are at fault ignores all the actors in the story, their motivations, and the long term policy implications.

#21 | Posted by snoofy at 2023-01-16 01:53 PM | Reply

What we knew, he was tazed and died.

What we now know, he had drugs in his system, probably a contributor to his actions after starting out pretty well with an office who was rather polite to him.

What we don't know yet... an autopsy, and where there other contributing factors, possibly more than the tazing, that caused his death.

But we know you won't care about that, you've already gotten what you wanted, a white cop and black man. No facts will matter to you beyond that.

And lets be clear, no one killed him for resisting arrest. He died after, not even during, resisting arrest.

#22 | Posted by kwrx25 at 2023-01-16 01:58 PM | Reply

See what I mean?

You're happy to rationalize electrocuting him until he died.

"He died after, not even during, resisting arrest."

No, he died after he got electrocuted.

"Resosring Arrest" is not a cause of death you boot licking parasite.

#26... Are you that you dumb? I said it could have been a contributing factor to what killed him.

He didn't die of eloctrocution, or overdose... it will turn out to be a heart attack or something along that line. It then will be attributed to the tazer, or the drugs, or a combination of those perhaps with other factors.

But no where have I said he deserved to die... He definitely wasn't murdered.

#24 wanna take another stab at that, because what you wrote is barely coherent.

What's the charge for murdering something through negligence and incompetence? The officer with the taser isn't competent. All they had to do was grab a 2 on 1 grip on the guys arm and the whole thing ends a lot faster. They kept grabbing with 1, failed, and then went to the taser. There's 3 officers. That's 2 arms for each one of this guys and a third controlling his head and neck.

3. "I said it could have been a contributing factor to what killed him."

Did he deserve to be tased?
Then he deserved to die.

Second-degree murder is any intentional killing that is not premeditated or planned. A situation in which the killer intends only to inflict serious bodily harm, knowing this could result in death but with no specific intent to kill, also constitutes second-degree murder.

I would argue his threats to use the taser after the victim verbalized, he the police were trying to kill him, makes the act 1st degree murder.

#32 | Posted by truthhurts at 2023-01-16 05:54 PM | Reply

---- the police. they killed a sick man suffering a psychotic break. He was hurting NOONE and the police escalated the situation to the point where they believed they had to tase him. They ------- murdered him.

This is why we say defund the police. this man should have been met by mental health care professionals.

I have said it before and I will say it again. A person suffering a psychotic break simply cannot acquiesce to demands. they are physically incapable of doing so. Demanding they do this that or anything is ONLY going to make things worse. For everyone.

These incompetent untrained sadistic cops should be throw in jail.

this did not have to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
