I hate to ruin your day but I mostly agree with that. The issue here is doing what you propose while adhering to basic instructive standards. I'm going to proceed with this on the assumption that the critique I posted is both accurate and fair (I acknowledge that it might not be). Based on what I read the criticism of the 4 th quarter material is it doesn't meet scholarly standards. Taking a political stance requires multiple viewpoints. Further, even if a certain viewpoint is favored it should not be treated as authoritative. Injecting politics into education, especially K-12 is tricky and needs to be handled delicately. Proslethetizing and indoctrination should not be a part of any educational course.

Compare that to something that Florida rejected-The state says intersectionality " which refers to the way various forms of inequality often work together and build on one another " is foundational to critical race theory and "ranks people based on their race, wealth, gender and sexual orientation."
but you see intersectionality does not do what Fl is saying it does. Intersectionality is the interconnected nature of social categorizations such as race, class, and gender as they apply to a given individual or group, regarded as creating overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination or disadvantage.
What does that mean? A poor black woman will have different disadvantages than a rich white man. Seems pretty straight forward to me.
So a poor black woman faces overlapping and interdependent impacts because she is poor because she is black and because she is a woman. That will be different for a poor black man, who may face the same impacts for being poor and black but completely different for being male-i.e. significantly higher incarceration rates.
So, no, there is nothing remotely controversial about teaching intersectionality, except it makes people like you uncomfortable, because then you have to acknowledge you as a middle class white male have advantages over a poor black woman. And people don't like that.
And don't bring the specious argument of the Obama daughters, this is about the general not specific individuals-point being the general experience of a poor black woman vs a rich white man.
