Is this because the student was black?

If only she had armed herself she would have been able to shoot the boy before he shot her. I am told that 2nd Amendment proponents feel that would have been a much more desireble result.

As I've already said:
-nothing will happen to the child
-nothing will happen to the parents
-the parents may get the gun back
-the teacher's career is now over. The only thing left is how much she will get from the school district and the parents homeowners policy. Both will fight tooth and nail to limit the damages paid.

That kid is messed up. Bigly. There may be mental illness, but there is probably also learned behavior picked up in the home ...

What in the Hell is "desireble"?

No wonder you're such an idiot, listening to stupid things people tell you.

Yes comrades! The student was an African American. He obviously hated Whites. But...be of good cheer. He is under 7 years of age and according to law must be released. And so some African Americans are now boasting, "One up on YOU!" The teacher still has a bullet lodged in her chest and will no doubt deservedly get millions of dollars from the city.

He showed it to a teacher on the playground.

While not a popular solution, this would have been easily solved by punching the third grader in the face and taking the gun from him on the spot.

-------- school administrators blew the warnings off... the last one after a child came crying to a teacher that the shooter threatened him with the gun at recess...their excuse "the day will be over soon so don't bother".

That worked out well.

Why haven't the parents been charged yet?

"Virginia has no laws that require unattended firearms to be stored in a certain way. The state also does not require a locking device to accompany the sale of a firearm, and no state statutes require firearm owners to affirmatively lock their weapons.

However, Virginia does have a misdemeanor law meant to protect children 14 and younger from access to firearms."

---------- gun humpers have brought this culture to America.

The teacher is going to sue the school district.

Good.

The district and the school all failed to protect the teacher, other teachers and the children miserably. They should all be held accountable.

No, it's shooting the third grader in the face and taking the gun from him on the spot.

That's the proposed solution from Second Amendment enthusiasts: Arm The Teachers.

She will still be paid slave labor wages and if she can't return to work, she'll get half slave labor wages.

Virginia does not have a legal requirement to store your guns so kids can't get at them.

Why?

Because --- safety.
