The money trail seems plausible. the implausible part involves Der Dotard coming out of pocket $1MM. I have a hard time believing he would pay $1MM for anything, much less pay at all for anything of value...

He may have funded it but that doesn't mean it was his money. Likely he was the funnel from some other source fool enough to donate the funds. If Trump hadn't have thought it of value to him, he'd have kept the money. I tend to think this is the reason for the secrecy. So he didn't have to reveal who passed the money to him.
