"when states and local governments passed anti-transgender bills, suicide and depression searches increased."

That is their goal from the start. They'd rather see anyone who doesn't fit into their white christian nationalist box dead before they see them accepted and happy.

What is in a bill that makes it "anti transgender?"

#3 | Posted by BellRinger at 2023-02-01 01:50 AM | Reply

#3 - Great question. I guess that is impossible to know if the article doesn't provide an overview of that or better yet if it would have provided a link to the actual study that might provide a detailed definition.

Oh wait...all of those things are provided so finding the answer to your question is super easy, barely an inconvenience.

#4. Um, no. I read the article. Actual examples are scant and vague.

it is as if you only read half my comment. Is that how you also read the article?

Anything that is anti transgender makes it anti transgender.

North Carolina House Bill 2 should come immediately to mind, JeffJ.

I didn't address the study itself which is why I didn't respond to that half of your comment. To their credit the author of this piece does acknowledge the study's shortcomings.

From floor debate on Tennessee drag show felony bill:

BellRinger, who abhors transgender people and paints them all as rapists and opportunists, is giddy over stripping transgender Americans of all their rights. He's sure transgender people are all faking.

Typically conservative, believing his own ignorance rather than facts.

The Long March Through The Bathrooms.

For Republicans, 2021 Is The Year To Target Trans Kids
Republican-controlled legislatures across the country have introduced dozens of bills targeting transgender youth, building on conservative dog whistles and putting some of the country's most vulnerable at risk, human rights groups say.

The bills fall into two main categories: At least 17 states are considering laws that would limit access to health care for young transgender Americans, and 28 more have bills excluding trans kids from school sports, according to a tally by the American Civil Liberties Union.

If your state isnt "trans" friendly, move to another state where people think like you.

No need to commit suicide. A state of people have a right to live like they want, especially if it's in their culture.

Leave them alone. Leave kids alone.

If your state isn't Negro friendly, move to another state where people put up with them.

"Leave kids alone."

You literally just told the kids to move to another state.

You are acting like everyone in any given state think the same way. "A state of people" is a meaningless phrase if by it you are saying everyone in the state must think alike. That would be a cult, not a state.

---- you boaz, why do people have to move (with all the costs and disruptions caused) to be able to live their life.

You are the problem, you are the disease of hate in this country

Boaz hates America for its freedom and inclusiveness.

It's what makes him such a staunch conservative.

I assume this means you also support open borders and believe that people who live under repressive regimes in other country should just be able to move to the US.

I don't know the details of this particular story but I know what has been going on in Florida, and I want to make an important point....when the media blasts factually incorrect, hyperbolic arguments about various legislative acts, such as that a proposed law seeks to "erase" LGBTQ people, or imprison them for hanging rainbow flags or having books in their classrooms, that is dangerous as well, and can also lead to despondency and even suicidal thoughts When they blatantly lie and mischaracterize what is in a law in order to create outrage and fear, that is dangerous too. These kinds of misrepresentations can also drive people to suicide. I talked to a very distraught family friend recently who was completely freaked out over the "new Florida law" which is a "war against gays" Finally, I sent him a copy of the actual law. His response (to the two page law) was "Seriously, is that all this is about?"

Please, people, do your research and keep your arguments and your criticisms honest.

Not all, but most of it. Yet he's constantly reminding us how "proud" he is to be an American.

#14 Boaz Most people can't just leave a state if they don't like what the legislature is doing. They have family, they have jobs and moving is costly, they would have to sell their house. It's easier to stay and try to fight against the passage of those laws. Republicans are bullies and they seem to hate anyone who's not a male WASP! They have no compassion or common sense and are greedy.
