More from the article...

...Civil rights groups including the NAACP and the ACLU of Connecticut say the legislation would get rid of Connecticut's restrictive voting laws that limit access to absentee voting and do not permit early voting.

Last November, voters approved a referendum to change the state's Constitution to allow for early voting.

That has cleared the way for the majority Democrats to take action on the bill this year, said Senate President Martin Looney.

"Certainly protecting access to voting is going to be part of our agenda," he said....

Oregon doesn't do everything right, believe me, but as far as vote by mail for all elections, local as well as federal, it is first rate. I get my ballot weeks in advance, have time to research the issues, and send in the ballot on my own schedule, I don.t have to worry about weather or if someone will believe my reason for absentee voting.

I do applaud the state of Cnnecticut but if Amrtica wants to claim to be a free denocratic nation voying rights should be in the Consyitution so no state could use false excuses like voting fraud as an excuse to make it hard for any citizen or class of citizens to vote and we should have a Supreme Court thar is not biased towards any political party or ideology.

So, the legislature will be working on voting rights. How much they accomplish is open to question at this point.
