Again your Republican State government at work. I wonder what conspiracy theory they use to cover it?

Uhh Rein, where did you get the number of 340k homes? Need a citation for that claim because it's not in your story.

It's in the headline and first sentence of the linked article, moron.

"340K without power amid frigid temperatures in Texas; 2,300 flights canceled, at least 6 dead as winter storm sweeps US: Updates"

"AUSTIN, Texas " Texans in more than 340,000 homes and businesses braced for near-freezing temperatures without power Wednesday and more than 2,300 flights were canceled amid an unrelenting blast of treacherous, icy conditions and brutal cold that has left at least six dead. "

California could use an exclave.

Move the Texas capital to Lubbock. It's exactly your speed.

If it's mainly just Austin, sounds to me like someone didn't bother trimming their trees (and not a grid related issue).

No, moron. That's where the news is being reported from. It's a huge area that centers between Dallas, Austin and Houston.

Near freezing temps and they lose power? Cripes It's -10 in the Albany NY area-they have power.

340k would only be an outage effecting 1/3 of Austin (not including its sprawling suburbs). Outages I know of were North of Houston. Places like Palestine, TX with population 20k.

340k HOMES AND BUSINESSES.

That would be a substantial number of folks affected.

Any minor power outage in Texas is now national news because Ted Cruz is a POS. ^^ kind of funny.

400,000 homes is not minor especially for literal multiple days in cold weather.

#15 | Posted by Sycophant at 2023-02-02 12:01 PM | Reply

Less than 3% of the grid is minor considering Republican corruption left most of us in the dark not that long ago.

In 150 years our descendants will thank us for our minor sacrifices today while living comfortably in their caves and mud huts. According to our globalist masters in Davos all we need to is slightly prune the population by 6.5 billion and give up modern conveniences like food, shelter and energy. They decided the simplest way do do that was to make everything worse and more expensive.

The power companies in Texas cheap out on infrastructure and it bites Texans in the buttocks. Why should anyone be surprised?

From what I've seen here in Okiehomie, having above-ground power lines is not only cheap, it's a jobs program for every tornado and ice storm...

It's Texas.

Possibly freezing to death during the winter is part of the charm.

Besides. All you need is to fire off your guns a few times a cuddle with the heat the provide you.

Come to Texas and enjoy the unregulated power that works just fine when it is not too hot or too cold, in other words when you need it the most because FK YOU.

I am sure the shareholders and officers of the ERCOT all have whole house generators so that the poor people suffer and die by themselves.

Plus what ERCOT will due is jack the rates way up during this weather emergency so people can look forward to paying hundreds of dollars per day if they are lucky enough to have power.

"His Lights Stayed on During Texas' Storm. Now He Owes $16,752." www.nytimes.com

""My savings is gone," said Scott Willoughby, a 63-year-old Army veteran who lives on Social Security payments in a Dallas suburb. He said he had nearly emptied his savings account so that he would be able to pay the $16,752 electric bill charged to his credit card " 70 times what he usually pays for all of his utilities combined. "There's nothing I can do about it, but it's broken me.""

A capitalist miracle.

A capitalist miracle indeed in a similar situation with a Marxist/socialist system energy would be unobtanium except for the party elite.

Justice has hit Texas in the balls. I warned what would happen because of the unjust verdict of policewoman Amber Guyger. God doesn't play games. Eventually things do reach a tipping point. And so after she was sentenced you got Covid-19, tornadoes, severe drought, heat waves over powering the electric grid, massive inflation and debt, and now possibly an oncoming nuclear war in Ukraine.

Hey! Comrade Sycophant! How can I explain this to you? You must have taken Physics in High School. At least I take it for granted. Reaction follows Action. Thus B follows A and C follows B and D follows C etc. See? So simple that even YOU can understand it!

There are electric cooperatives all over America that are significantly outperforming the for-profit utilities in Texas.
