The Vernal Equinox (first day of Spring) is on March 20th of this year.
So there'll be 19 days of Winter in March and 26 more days of Winter in February. That adds up to 45 more days of Winter. Pretty close to six more weeks of Winter (like every year). Now, if they're talking about the actual weather: I wonder how they determine when Spring arrives meteorologically.

At least. It's not unusual to see snow in May up in this neck of the woods. Bring that woodchuck up to the northern plains in February, you'd never get him out of the hole.
But it's a great American tradition. I hope it continues at least 127 more years.

Yinzers have no sense of fun. I went today to Punxsutawney to see Phil and his wife Phyliss. I've gone every year since 1976 when I was a senior in high school. I have a blast although it's become more of an adult adventure instead of a college road trip. I like the heated tent and the toast to Phil after he gives his prognostication. I no longer hang out with the crowds awaiting the arrival of Phil and the inner circle. And the sometimes drunken craziness is not something I want to experience at my age now. But a fun time was had by all my friends who went.

Now, who can they observe to let us know if America will wake to global warming and make the efforts needed to save our culture?
