What do any of these Republicans have to run on that isn't Trump's brand?
#3 | Posted by snoofy at 2023-02-06 11:15 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 2
If Trump isn't the 2024 GOP presidential nominee he'll run third party. And cost the GOP nominee a shot at being elected.
Bet on it. ...
Trump or may not want to be president again, but the spotlight is irresistible to a narcissist. And opportunities to keep grifting ...

at this point if you want the job, you're not qualified for it because it's all turned into a game of $$ and attention.
Same with the celebrity congress critters whos whole point is to be on camera and doesn't matter which letter they are displaying.

It's called "TV face time" so the folks back home will get the impression they're actually working.

The GOP has a platform problem. They have for years. What are they about other than, persecute the blacks and browns, white rights, tax the middle class, tax breaks for the rich, and roll back the Social Safety Net for everyone else?
For the majority of Americans, these are NOT popular positions...
p.s. Keep up the good work GOP!

They have a longer term problem than that....a utter lack of any morals or principles (other than greed) and a genuine lack of concern for the plight of American citizens unless they can give them millions of dollars.

This is all there is to Donald Trump. Nothing more. And we've got 30% of the electorate who would rather see the country burn than select someone of good character who is not mentally ill.

They solved that one during the last convention. They just refused to have a platform.

At least not one that they'd expose to their sucker base until AFTER they get elected.

Here's the issue:
If Trump isn't nominated, he will blow up the party and the Presidential candidate.
If Trump does win, the Republican party will not win the House, Senate or White House.
And DeSantis has done every stupid thing he can without real consequences in the build up to 2024. He can't wait until 2028 because the consequences of his stupidity will have caught up to him by then and he'll run out of crazy things to do to get his name in the news.

I wouldn't speak so soon. If there's anything the Trump era should have taught us it's that Democrats are wholly deficient in their ability to imagine a worst case scenario, for all their histrionics.

Most, if not all, of the items listed in #15 seem to have more than a modicum of truth to them.
Yet, your comment tries to counter the argument of #15 by posting what seem to be unsubstantiated fantasies.
Do try harder.

The Republicans have plenty of ammunition to throw at Biden. Unrest is high throughout the USA. Massive immigration, high inflation, riots, police hampered, lack of good paying jobs with benefits, tax breaks for the rich, drugs like Fentanyl out of control, tax dollars going to foreign wars like in Ukraine, college graduates unable to find jobs, inner cities crumbling, etc. The State of the Union show tonight with the Republican follow up are must sees!

Biden is going to get reelected.
And if he decides not to run we're going to get President Newsom.

Good work, FIDO.
I think our resident Russian spammer just described the Republican plan to finally destroy democracy ~ except our tax dollars will be going to Russia, not Ukraine. AND, Trump (or his successor dictator wannabe) will have to find a way to get out of NATO.

What more can I say comrades? In the State of the Union, Biden has promised us everything. What's really great -- and unexpected -- was his support for raising taxes on the plutocrat capitalists. It's a Communist dream!!! And I loved the part where some Republicans asked Biden for his support on cutting Social Security. Sure spiced things up, and was in line with expectations.

A good question.
Latest pools... www.realclearpolitics.com
The Democrats do seem to be behind at this point.
However, as I have said a few times in the past (perhaps your other alias saw it?) it is quite early in the 2024 election cycle.
So, let's see how things develop.
But, yeah, Pres Biden does seem to have a hill to climb. What I am watching at this point is... will Pres Biden allow someone else to run up that hill?

It is still early in the 2024 election cycle.

That's why the GOP has a problem. It's only Trump and DeSantis. Did you read the article?

Brilliant the way Biden forced the GOP to deny they were going to cut Social Security and Medicare, and then stand and applaud him for his defense of the programs.
Biden is playing Chess, the GOP, Shoots and Ladders...
Somewhere their is a rich CEO GOP backer who wanted Social Security and Medicare cut, crying because they were so easily lured into a trap by Biden.
And his tears are delicious!

Trump even posted a mostly positive comment about Biden after the speech... but it was obviously meant to threaten the GOP that they needed HIM to run against Biden.
Stealthy traitors are still traitors.

Why Biden?
Mostly because he's the devil we know, and if it ain't broke don't fix it. And there's certainly stuff that's broke but I don't think Newsom will fix them any better than anyone else.

Joe's been able to hold together centrist dems and progressives, along with enough swing voters to offset the disaffected far left handsitters... who should at least be happy about a min corp tax.
Not sure who else can do that these days.

Trump got impeached twice and only escaped being kicked out of the White House because his party had a majority in the senate.
Run that bastard into the ground and assume anybody wearing Trump paraphernalia is a fascist.
