Attorney and pro-gun activist, Leandro Mathias de Novaes, died after being shot with his own gun. The gun loving social media influencer met his end while taking his mother for a medical exam. He ignored verbal and written instruction from healthcare workers to leave all metal objects outside of an MRI area. The magnetic field from the scanner pulled his gun from his waistband and it went off, the bullet hitting him in the abdomen. He spent three weeks in critical condition before succumbing to his injury.

I would imagine he would be in agony the entire time.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Dawin approves.

He was killed by his own stupidity. It's a good thing no one else was shot but him.

These laws are unconstitutional because there were no laws against bringing guns to a MRI facility when the Second Amendment was ratified.

Anyway, I'm glad he's dead from the gun he fell in love with. He deserved what he got.

How has this become such a common theme amongst Republicans?

They really are the dumbest, most arrogant people in America.

"How has this become such a common theme amongst Republicans?"

It comes down this decision on their part: No one is going to tell me what to do!

Pretty sure they don't have a lot of Republicans in Brazil.

They have their equivalent.

Conservatives all over the world have the same ideology.

From the cited article...

...A man in Brazil who was accidentally shot by his own gun while accompanying his mother to an MRI exam has succumbed to his injuries, according to an update from CNN Brazil.

On Jan. 16, lawyer Leandro Mathias de Novaes was wearing a registered firearm on his waistband while assisting his mother in the MRI suite when the scanner's powerful magnet pulled the gun away from his body. The gun subsequently discharged and shot the 40-year-old lawyer in his stomach, landing him in an intensive care unit until Feb. 6, when he passed away. ...

My first question would be along the lines of.... why would he think he needs to have a gun while helping his mother during hospital tests?

Better question might be why did the inanimate object decide to shoot him? A magnet is not going to flip the safety off and pull the trigger.

@#24 ... Better question might be why did the inanimate object decide to shoot him? A magnet is not going to flip the safety off and pull the trigger.....

Your comment presumes the safety was enabled.

I remain to be convinced that is a valid assumption.

I mean, really, if someone has carried a gun into a hospital, why would one think that the safety is enabled?

... into a hospital. ...

This is the person that Gov DeSantis does not want to have attend his rallies.

Let that sink in....

It does. I don't carry loaded guns so I'm not sure what the process is. I suppose a safety would slow you down if you were attacked.

@#27 ... so I'm not sure what the process is. ...

Good point.

My presumption is along the lines of "safety first."

Especially when entering a hospital.

I do realize that my views of gun safety may not be seen as appropriate by some of the folk who carry guns, because safety may not be the first thing in their mind.

My guess is the MRI machine was yanking on his gat so he grabbed it and Baldwined himself with it.

#29 | Posted by REDIAL at 2023-02-12 01:07 AM | Reply

I guess they'll be revisiting their procedure on how close they let visitors to the MRI suite.
