Bills filed by Florida's GOP:

  • Right to remove transgender children from their parents and charge their parents with felonies.
  • Crack down on drag shows that allow minors (even with a parent or guardian).
  • Further restricting abortion, removing rape and incest exclusions.
  • Divert more funds from public schools to private schools.
  • Banning gender studies.
  • Banning actual Critical Race Theory from being discussed or taught.
  • Making tenure cancellable immediately and reviewable at any time cancelling tenure completely.
  • Centralize faculty hiring
  • Allow people to carry guns without a permit or any training.
  • Expand the horribly failed and embarrassing "Office of Election Crimes" (looks like just voting is going to be a crime - unless it's for the GOP)
  • Change the required vote threshold for amendments from 60% to 66.7% to stop the public from expressing their voices.

END;

A pretty good summary of what Florida's GOP has been up to just this session.

Yeah, I left out much more you've heard of because this is what they're up to above what they've already done.

#5 - Told me? I live here. I know it extremely well. He's inserting The State into every aspect of our lives. His followers love him for it. For them it's never been about freedom and liberty. It's just that it is finally becoming obvious to everyone but them. I've been talking about this and the GOP for years.

You stay in CA and I'll stay here and fight - while I can. Even if sellouts throw rocks at me.

DeSantis is not actually governor. He's not into "governing" in the conventional, I.e. normal, meaning of the word. Basically, he's a geek who entertains rubes while toeing the line for his investors. FL has taken a helluva tumble since he became governor. Republicans' ongoing war with education, por ejemplo, has created a pees-poor school system, the deleterious effects of which will be felt by many students who (a) do not come from families that can afford private edumacashun; and/or (b) might be interested in something other than a career stocking the shelves at a Winn-Dixie. DeSantis is all about DeSantis. The surliness, rudeness, b.s. statements of "fact," insecurity-driven bravado, that's all part of the GQP approach these days. That, envy, hatred, ignorance, and an investor class laughing its collective arse off at their goober voters, that's the GQP and that's DeSantis, all the way from his padded suit right down to his high-heeled botines.

Ron is someone who chose to take a job at GITMO overlording prisoners as, according to his associates there, an asset to his political aspirations.

I mean, what better place to learn how to run a detention camp and apply those lessons as President?

    Great point, Corky.

He's calculating. He looks dumb, sounds dumb, and those are attractive features for his base. But he himself isn't dumb. He is immoral. He is evil.

    He's like 30 mins after a Chinese-German dinner... he's hungry for power.
