Yes. Nazis. That's how they self-identify. That's the iconography they use to represent themselves. That is the ideology the espouse. Just like in Florida projecting swastika on buildings, distributing hate filled fliers, and hanging nazi signs and images from overpasses.

Don't get mad at me or call me names over it. I didn't label them.

Drag queens are being vilified by Republicans nationwide, who claim that reading to children in whimsical dresses and costumes constitutes sexualizing them.

Do you think that is all there is "dressup" in whimsical costumes?

On that note, did you know Nazi's agreed with Workers Rights? and Gun bans?

Perhaps you can understand what I am driving at, then again maybe not.

Around 15 children were seated inside the venue while Rose, the storyteller, read about treating others how they want to be treated and being good, the Medina Gazette reports. Rose and the children then sang and danced while playing air guitars.

And on the other side screamed racial and homophobic slurs

Congratulations conservatives this is who u are

Yav,

During the summer of 2020 when left wing agitators were razing buildings, destroying businesses, assaulting police and even murdering people were they representative of the Democratic Party as a whole based on their actions? Remember, Kamala Harris promoted a bail fund for these people and members of the Biden team made contributions to this fund.

I ask because you are smearing an entire political party over the actions of a small group of nasty lunatics.

As Tennessee, others target drag shows, many wonder: Why?
apnews.com

..."If I hadn't been a girl, I'd have been a drag queen."

Dolly Parton has uttered those words famously and often. But if she really were a drag queen, one of Tennessee's most famous daughters would likely be out of a job under legislation signed into law by Republican Gov. Bill Lee on Thursday.

Lee signed off on the legislation without issuing a statement or having a public ceremony. The bill goes into effect July 1.

Across the country, conservative activists and politicians complain that drag contributes to the "sexualization" or "grooming" of children. Several states are considering restrictions, but none has acted as fast as Tennessee. The efforts seek to extinguish popular " drag story hours " at which queens read to kids. Organizers of LGBTQ Pride events say they put a chill on their parades. And advocates note that the bills, pushed largely by Republicans, burden businesses in an un-Republican fashion.

The protestations have arisen fairly suddenly around a form of entertainment that has long had a place on the mainstream American stage.

Milton Berle, "Mr. Television" himself, was appearing in drag on the public airwaves as early as the 1950s on "Texaco Star Theater." "RuPaul's Drag Race" is a bona fide cultural phenomenon. Highly popular drag brunches bring revenue to restaurants. That such spectacles are now being portrayed as a danger to children boggles the minds of people who study, perform and appreciate drag.

"Drag is not a threat to anyone. It makes no sense to be criminalizing or vilifying drag in 2023," said Lawrence La Fountain-Stokes, a professor of culture and gender studies at the University of Michigan and author of "Translocas: The Politics of Puerto Rican Drag and Trans Performance."...

The difference between the extreme right wing and the extreme left wing, is that the GOP extreme right wing makes up a third of the Party and has the nation's largest cable news channel propagating their propaganda. Whereas the left wing extreme is just some small fringe that rarely if ever make headlines, and when they do the event is amplified by right wing news outlets across the nation one hundred fold. And that is one hell of a big difference for anyone actually wanting to live in reality.

Actually, yes, because at their core these folks were fighting for equal justice and against persecution by the government (don't forget the police are members of the government).
So yes, Democrats do agree with the basic tenets of those protests and so are not ashamed to be associated with the causes, but not the methods, the protesters espouse.
With Nazis, though, for Republicans to accept and tolerate events like this one is to associate and identify with protesters who bring pure hate and oppression to the table.

Biden has consistently condemned instances of violent protest, including BLM and antifa

#37 | Posted by SpeakSoftly at 2023-03-14 06:29 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 2

Several left-wing leaders have condemned violence during BLM protests. Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi are among the Democrats who have spoken out against violence.

On June 3, Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., the majority whip of the House of Representatives, told The Washington Post that the movement for racial justice suffers when it is "hijacked" by violence.

And after clashes between protesters and police turned violent in Chicago last weekend, Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot said there is "no justification for criminal behavior," according to The New York Times. "There cannot be any excuse for it, period. This was not legitimate First Amendment protected speech," she said. "To those who engaged in this criminal behavior, let's be clear: We are coming for you."

Regardless of whether that violence is attributable to anti-fascist activists, the city's Democratic Mayor Ted Wheeler recently condemned the actions of some protesters, including attempts to set fire to police union headquarters.

"When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder," he said, according to The Washington Post.

Of the more than 7,750 Black Lives Matter demonstrations held across the country in the last several months, 93 percent have been peaceful, according to a report by the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, a nonprofit organization that tracks global political protest and violence, and Princeton University's Bridging Divides Initiative published in September.

Between May 26 and Aug. 22, "more than 93 percent of all demonstrations connected to the movement, demonstrators have not engaged in violence or destructive activity. Peaceful protests are reported in over 2,400 distinct locations around the country. Violent demonstrations, meanwhile, have been limited to fewer than 220 locations " under 10 percent of the areas that experienced peaceful protests," the report stated.

Despite the numbers, the overarching portrayal of the protests by those opposed to the movement have been that they are violent, unruly and destructive. That's a strategic choice, said Trimiko Melancon, a professor of African American and American literary and cultural studies at Rhodes College.

Melancon noted that acts of violence that have been the exception and not the rule are propped up and seized upon to justify suppression of an entire movement that has been largely peaceful.

It is important to note that most of the people arrested in protests against racial injustice are not leftist radicals, and false narratives about the protests have been used to justify violence and discrimination.

Op-Ed: Look For Intent When Comparing The Capitol Mob To Black Lives Matter, Historian Says (January 18, 2021)
www.wbur.org

... Some on the right have compared the violence of the insurrection to what happened last year at Black Lives Matter protests.

But according to new research from Princeton University, at least 93% of the Black Lives Matter protests were peaceful. The study looked at more than 7,000 protests in 2,000 locations.

Then there's the claim that leaders on the left have incited more violence than on the right, peddled by Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz after the insurrection. But Democratic leaders like President-elect Joe Biden decried any violence after Black Lives Matter marches, as did the group's leaders.

And there are several other reasons why the comparison to the Capitol riot doesn't hold up to reality, says Ashley Howard, an assistant professor of African American studies at the University of Iowa who focuses on the global history of racial violence.

Black Lives Matter marches were based on a visible truth while the attack on the Capitol was based on the demonstrable lie that the election was stolen, she says.

"Black Lives Matter protests were stemming from George Floyd, a man being knelt for nine minutes and dying, and so that really activated people to say something and to do something. It resonated all across the globe," she says. "What we see with the Capitol siege is a direct undermining of a free and fair election in America."

The Capitol riot showed a group demonstrating raw power, while Black Lives Matter protesters were asking for power. That's "the crucial difference between those two events," Howard says.

"In these two different instances, you have people without power who are trying to advance this project of America for equality for all and those who already have the power trying to make sure that they suppress any political opinion that differs from their own," she says.

The insurrection also differs in its intent, Howard says, because the rioters acted as if they knew they would not be punished. The rioters' social media posts showed they had no fear, unlike the protesters who were met with rubber bullets and other retaliatory measures as they marched for Black lives this summer....

As a parent I would be a lot more concerned about Nazis being at an even I brought my children to than drag queens. I guess that is the point rational parents won't go to the events if they know Nazis will show up.

If you are showing up at an event for kids trying to scare the kids that is not OK. I would probably get my ass kicked if they showed up at an event I was bringing my kids to since I dislike bullying and would probably say something.

I'm big on free speech but intimidation, especially of children, should not be protected speech.

But I don't believe there are any examples, other than mythology maybe, where a person declared they were in fact the sex that was opposite of the one they were born into

Now here they are again, insisting the First guarantees their right to spread their hate and division.

TH #85: Bingo! In their hate filled heart of hearts on some level they like the idea of nazis terrorizing children. There are just so many hate filled right wing people in this nation. It is no mystery why our national history is replete with incidents of massacre, genocide, enslavement and persecution. Just on a personal level, it is my opinion that this would be a far greater nation if everyone with the hate filled right wing mind set simply disappeared and we could be done with them.

Jeff does, on a regular basis, like to tell us about how women and girls in restrooms and locker rooms are susceptible to getting raped by heterosexual men.

It's something he's spent a great deal of time fantasizing about.

#104 | Posted by ClownShack at 2023-03-15 06:29 PM | Reply

"That kind of talk is what conflates sex and gender."

That's not really the case.
In almost every instance where society refers to someone's sex, we're actually referring to gender.
There are very few situations that arise in society where the biological understanding of sex comes into play.
Genetics counseling is one such area.

Let me give you an example from real life:
You don't use the terms "Brussel Sprouts" and "Cauliflower" interchangeably.
Everyone can see those things are not the same.
However, in terms of genetics, they are in fact the same species, Brassica oleracea.

Tennessee Republicans passed a bill
codifying "sex" as "a person's immutable biological sex as determined by anatomy and genetics existing at the time of birth and evidence of a person's biological sex" throughout state code.
www.hrc.org
The fact that Republicans think this law is needed, tells us the Republican way isn't the way things are normally done in society. Hence, sex as commonly used in everyday situations doesn't mean what Tennessee is defining it to mean. And people like you want to change that.

Get it?

Those right-wing scum wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for the Republican party, for Trump, for DeSantis, for YOU the base. YOU encouraged them, emboldened them, empowered them; "Stand by and stand back!" They wouldn't have been there without the demonization and lies actively and continuously spread by YOU. It's all over the D.R. so no citation required. Just read this thread.

Even with all that not one of you have condemned this. By now anyone that's paying attention knows exactly why that is.

What I don't get is your side is demanding that kids not be allowed to go to drag queen story hour, and parents may be locked up for years for loving their transgendered children, and now there are laws being passed forbidding using any pronoun that a person wants to have used for them if it doesn't meet the state definition. Yet you are the same people that would be going ------- if the State dictated that all children must be vaccinated for COVID.

You are't conservatives,
You aren't for people's freedom,
You aren't for liberty,
You aren't for parent's rights,
All you are for is fascism and State control - to force YOUR beliefs on everyone else.
