Around 772,000 Florida workers, students, and community members are undocumented. And Governor Ron DeSantis wants to make it a felony for anyone to have them in their home or even give them a ride.

In other words, anyone "co-worker, friend, neighbor, classmate" giving a simple ride to someone they know or care about who is undocumented would be guilty of a third-degree felony.
...Didn't DeSantis pay people to give a ride to undocumented workers?
LOCK HIM UP!

Heinous law from a heinous republican.
Funny how he will kill the orange industry in Florida, though I don't expect any orange grove owners will be arrested.
Republicans are scum

I don't usually know when I'm interacting with the undocumented. Sometimes I can guess. Just like I don't usually know if whom I'm interacting with is Jewish.
The word "fascist" gets thrown around a lot because there's a lot to throw.

There's a significant difference between proposing the people who create the financial incentive for undocumented immigration face a civil penalty for doing so and wanting anyone and everyone who comes into contact or does the least bit of kindness for them to face criminal charges.
You're smart enough to know this.

he will kill the orange industry in Florida
Just wait until we're paying $20 for some orange juice.
Mission Accomplished!

One thing the law does is prevent undocumented workers from obtaining a driver's license.
I wonder which will happen?
1. Undocumented workers will stop driving. 2. Undocumented workers will drive without a license.
Seems to me this law makes Florida roads less safe. Not sure how the auto insurance system works in Florida, but having a larger portion of uninsured drivers is not a good idea.

Sooooooo
more from the legislation:
395.3027 Patient immigration status data collection." 241 (1) Each hospital that accepts Medicaid must include a 242 provision on its patient admission or registration forms for the 243 patient or the patient's representative to state or indicate 244 whether the patient is a United States citizen or lawfully 245 present in the United States or is not lawfully present in the 246 United States. The inquiry must be followed by a statement that 247 the response will not affect patient care or result in a report 248 of the patient's immigration status to immigration authorities.
SOOOO, fascists Floridians want to collect undocumented status data on admission to hospitals. In other words they want to scare undocumented people from getting necessary health care.
Republicans are scum.

Will this legislation target employers?
(d)1. A private employer that establishes compliance with 343 subparagraph (b)1. with respect to the hiring, recruitment, or 344 referral for employment of an unauthorized alien has established 345 a rebuttable presumption that the private employer has not 346 violated this section with respect to such hiring, recruiting, 347 or referral.
Employers are in danger of having licenses revoked if they don't comply with essentially e-verifying legality of workers and $5000 fine. Again all employer has to do is e-verify iow I think an insignificant hurdle.
So no criminal charge just a small fine.

Dreamers who have a law license can no longer practice law
Felony to transport or conceal an undocumented immigrant
SOOOOOO, an employer wants to hire 5 undocumented immigrants to work his farm or construction project.
He sends Fred, his foreman, to pick up the 5 guys from near the Home Depot.
Fred is pulled over.
Fred gets up to 15 years in prison and $10,000 fine
Employer gets $5000 fine.

@#7 ... you all wanted the government to go after employers for hiring them. ...
Yup, I have said that.
Many times.
And I'll say it many more times.
That aside...
But is this the way to go after the employers who hire undocumented immigrants?
This method seems to be specifically tailored to go after the workers who work with the undocumented immigrants ("associating with"), not the employers that hire them.
So, Gov DeSantis seems to be going after workers, and not company owners.
Why is that not a surprise?
