AR-15 Lapel Pin Symbolizes Violence at Heart of White Christian Nationalism
Annika Brockschmidt: Violence has always been at the center of White Christian nationalism: the vow to impose order on those perceived as un-American, if need be with force, either by the police or by wielding a gun themselves.

... And while the absolute right to gun ownership has been a core belief on the American Right since at least the Reagan years ... When the NRA Supported Gun Control (2016) time.com
... On May 20, 2000, the legendary actor and president of the National Rifle Association Charlton Heston stood before the podium at the organization's 129th annual convention with a banner raised behind him featuring the America flag and the words "Vote Freedom." As he concluded his address, Heston picked up a replica of a flintlock rifle, raised it over his head and declared, in his own dramatic fashion, that anyone who wanted to take his gun would have to pry it "from my cold, dead hands." This iconic moment has come to define the NRA, which is now America's leading pro-gun advocacy group. As the group frames things in a new ad campaign, gun-control laws and politicians who support them are seen as an unconstitutional intrusion on the Second Amendment right to bear arms. The NRA's opposition to gun control, however, is only a few decades , according to Adam Winkler author of the book Gunfight: The Battle Over the Right to Bear Arms in America. "Historically," writes Winkler, "the leadership of the NRA was more open-minded about gun control than someone familiar with the modern NRA might imagine." Not only did the NRA support gun control for much of the 20th century, its leadership in fact lobbied for and co-authored gun control legislation....

Except when it comes to what? See this is where the Lumper argument falls apart.
How many babies were killed this in 2022, vs COVID deaths? Estimates vary for how many people get the (abortion) procedure each year, with 630,000 on the low end to around 886,000 based on other models.
Do you agree with saving lives? OR not.
Should RvW been turned over, NO, should the Democrat congress have passed a bill in response? Absolutely.
While I agree with abortion within a certain time frame (RvW was within reason). What is driving the division is both "abortion on demand" activists, and "NO abortion at all cost" crazies. Both are extreme positions, but that's where we are politically as a country.

At least 28 states, including Texas, currently allow teachers or school staff to be armed in the classroom under varying conditions, according to a 2020 RAND Corporation study. It is unclear how effective that has been at undermining a school shooting threat and critics note research that shows that adding firearms to a situation only increases the risk of gun violence. www.nbcnews.com
The Effects of Laws Allowing Armed Staff in K-12 Schools
As of January 1, 2021, 28 states allow schools to arm teachers or staff (not just trained guards or peace officers) in at least some cases or as part of a specific program.[1] In some of these states, such as Arkansas and Colorado, there are no statutes allowing armed school personnel but also no laws explicitly prohibiting it, and state policymakers have decided to allow or encourage the arming of teachers, in sometimes innovative ways. www.rand.org

Do you know anyone who's in that "culture"?
I know several. It's inevitable when you own guns and go to a range once in a while.
It's an identity. Obama was correct when he said it and you knew he was correct by all the immediate puling from the hicks clinging to their religion and guns.
Why else would the ------- giving these tacky pins out in congress submit a bill to make the AR-15 the "national firearm" or whatever stupid ---- it was?

It's actually quite different from that given the scourge of gun violence afflicting our society. For people who lead the way in preventing meaningful life-saving reform to celebrate the gun is despicable.

"He has a battle rifle": Police feared Uvalde gunman's AR-15
Once they saw a torrent of bullets tear through a classroom wall and metal door, the first police officers in the hallway of Robb Elementary School concluded they were outgunned. And that they could die.
The gunman had an AR-15, a rifle design used by U.S. soldiers in every conflict since Vietnam. Its bullets flew toward the officers at three times the speed of sound and could have pierced their body armor like a hole punch through paper. They grazed two officers in the head, and the group retreated.
Uvalde Police Department Sgt. Daniel Coronado stepped outside, breathing heavily, and got on his radio to warn the others.
"I have a male subject with an AR," Coronado said.
The dispatch crackled on the radio of another officer on the opposite side of the building.
"----," that officer said.
"AR," another exclaimed, alerting others nearby.

It figures the party of death would have an AR-15 fetish.
