If a person takes merchandise and doesn't pay for it, they go to jail.

If a comporation does it, the worst that can happen is they are forced to pay it.

But corporations are people, right?

I mean, the former POTUS did this all the time, didn't he? It must be both legal AND good for business!

I'll take the creditors and give the points, Johnny. Landlords, trade vendors and other folks who are owed will get paid, and judges may become so sick and tired of hearing cases of TWTR not paying their rent, their restaurant bills and their terminated employees that they might just impose fines on top of the damages, or require TWTR to also pay plaintiff legal fees. That would be comedy gold...

I feel like the statement "let them sue" indicates they will not honor whatever contracts they've previously signed.
Which seems like it opens the door for punitive damages.

Punitive Damages are insanely rare and nearly impossible in breach of contract cases for non-payment.

It's a civil case for sure but Trump also forced vendors to sue him for work done. Then he dragged thing out so long that the vendors couldn't afford the legal fees any more and Trump forced them to settle for 10 cents on the dollar. Trump had a habit of hiring small time contractors just for that very purpose. He drove them into bankruptcy and out of business. But he got his.

I remember this happening during the renovation of the Trump Hotel in D.C. but it's been a lifetime habit with Trump.

Oh.
Well then I guess it makes Good Business Sense to "Let Them Sue."
Republican Values on full display -- your signature on a contract means NOTHING.

Trump's dirty dealings with contractors is always a claim of sub-standard workmanship as a reason for not paying the bill.

He gets away with it.

My credit rating says it was a long time ago.
