Nobody is going to mistake this meathead (Yale '01, HLS '05) for a man of the people.

It won't matter any more than Trump being a New York Socialite who went to Wharton mattered.

Here's an article that goes into more depth regarding DeSantis midwestern roots:

How Midwest roots shaped Ron DeSantis' political values and perspective

"I was geographically raised in Tampa Bay," DeSantis writes in his recently published political memoir, "but culturally my upbringing reflected the working-class communities in western Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio " from weekly church attendance to the expectation that one would earn his keep. This made me God-fearing, hard-working and America-loving."

www.nbcnews.com

I was interested in seeing why DeSantis makes that claim because I actually did grow in Western PA, within 30 to 50 miles of where Desantis' parents grew up and where some of his extended family still live.

"America loving"?

Is that why hes so busy stripping Americans of their civil rights, first amendment rights and removing references to Rosa Parks's race?

Nah. DeSantis doesn't love America. He loves Cuba and Russia.

That's the America he wants.

#3 as I said, I wanted to get to the bottom of why Tiny D made the claim about his Midwestern roots. I'll be interested to see if my family there, who are Trump supporters, will transfer their allegiance to Ron.

I'll take Swing States He Needs To Win for $2,000, Mayim.

If AZ and NM were the lynchpins, he'd be talking about his Southwestern roots.

BTW, I like the nickname Tiny D, but I also like Ron Defraud, which I just saw recently.

Midwestern roots? DeSantis will slither to whatever "roots" help him electorally. Other than being a mean spirited pretty nasty specimen, he's a fake.

he's a fake.

Seems to be all the rage for the Republican Party these days.

I'm going with yes. in 99% of the instances....yes.

That's not what is in question.

It's the non-trump folks who will go his way or not

All you have to criticize him with is his record as governor of florida.

If you go back to his ivy league record? You're equating him to Obama....a guy without a silver spoon who still made it to the ivy league, except THIS guy interrupted that path to serve in the military.

If you truly don't want Ron DeSantis as president.......my advice is to stay as far away from his life in the ivy league and military service.

You'll lose if you go there.

What I personally have problems with are his policies as governor, not his Ivy League pedigree.

It looks like Ron graduated from both Yale and Harvard before he was called to active duty:

After Yale, he taught history and coached for a year at Darlington School in Georgia. He subsequently attended Harvard Law School, graduating in 2005 with a Juris Doctor cum laude.

Military service
In 2004, during his second year at Harvard Law, DeSantis was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy and assigned to the Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG). He completed Naval Justice School in 2005. Later that year, he reported to the JAG Trial Service Office Command South East at Naval Station Mayport, Florida, as a prosecutor. He was promoted from lieutenant, junior grade to lieutenant in 2006. He was then stationed at Joint Task Force Guantanamo (JTF-GTMO), working directly with detainees at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. The records of DeSantis's service in the Navy were often redacted upon release to the public, to protect personal privacy, according to the Navy. Mansur Ahmad Saad al-Dayfi, who was held at Guantanamo, alleged that DeSantis oversaw force-feedings of detainees.

In 2007, DeSantis reported to the Naval Special Warfare Command Group in Coronado, California, where he was assigned to SEAL Team One and deployed to Iraq with the troop surge as the legal advisor to the SEAL Commander of the Special Operations Task Force-West in Fallujah. en.wikipedia.org

Republicans will love that!
