Us, and them
And after all we're only ordinary men.
Me, and you.
God only knows it's not what we would choose to do.

Forward he cried from the rear
and the front rank died.
And the general sat and the lines on the map
moved from side to side.

Black and blue
And who knows which is which and who is who.
Up and down.
But in the end it's only round and round.

Haven't you heard it's a battle of words
The poster bearer cried.
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There's room for you inside.

"I mean, they're not gunna kill ya, so if you give 'em a quick short,
sharp, shock, they won't do it again.

Dig it?

I mean he get off lightly, 'cos I would've given him a thrashing - I only hit him once!
It was only a difference of opinion, but really... I mean good manners
don't cost nothing do they, eh?"

Down and out
It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about.
With, without.
And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about?

Out of the way, it's a busy day
I've got things on my mind.
For the want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died.

Dark Side of the Moon, a capella.

Every sound you hear is made by a human, no music instruments were used.

#4 That was pretty decent

#5 Not an a capella fan overall (some good stuff but mostly meh) so that wasn't my cuppa.

I'm not a fan of a cappella either. However, the precision of that cover amazes me. They've got the notes and nuances nearly perfect. I've got the LP version of it (mastered by Doug Sax) that I bought a while ago. Oddly, the label is Vocomotion, but there is no group name given credit, just the individuals who performed.

I've also got the Dub Side of the Moon CD. :)

And the Dark Side of the Moon immersion set (which was the quite similar prior release of the new box set that has just been released).

Not to mention a number of RoIO live concert and studio outtake versions of Dark Side of the Moon.

I saw the Dark Side of the Moon concert during their 1975 tour. At the time, they couldn't get into a NYC arena, so for NYC area, the concert was held at Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City, NJ.

I'm usually not a fan of entire albums if we're lucky there will be one good song on an album. And then there's Dark Side of the Moon.

Absolutely amazing from beginning to end.

You may have seen the Pink Floyd episode of PBS' "Classic Albums" about the making of Dark Side Of The Moon.

If not, check it out.

@#9 ... You may have seen the Pink Floyd episode of PBS' "Classic Albums" about the making of Dark Side Of The Moon. ...

I have the BluRay version of it.

The BluRay version has lossless audio. :)

btw, in the "extras" part of the disc, Richard Wright explains how Us and Them was created. One of my favorite parts of the disc.

Speaking of Us and Them...

I also have the soundtrack album (with bonus tracks) of Zabriskie Point.

Zabrieski Point - Pink Floyd

...Pink Floyd also recorded other unreleased material during the same sessions. Most notable is a lengthy composition which at that time was known as "The Violent Sequence" (later released on Dark Side of the Moon Immersion Box Set).[4] This was later reworked, as "Us and Them" from The Dark Side of the Moon.[4] ...

A friend was their chief sound man for many years. He has some great stories. Setting up was a MASSIVE undertaking.

Do you guys remember when drive-ins had speakers that you hung on your windows?

My brother and I stole 2 of them and wired them up to his new 8 track tape player, but we had no tapes. His friend loaned him the DSOTM tape and I heard it for the first time while smoking pot with him.

Within a year, he was dead and that album is inextricably connected with my memories of him.

Somehow, at the time, even though I knew nothing about anything, I knew this music was something special.

I've been to a couple of their concerts (DSoTM and The Wall). Based upon the equipment that I could see from the audience, I'd say that "MASSIVE" may be an understatement. :)

I saw The Wall at the Hoosierdome. Some dude jumped off the 3rd level and splattered on the concrete below.

He was trying to catch the airplane that crashed on stage.
