Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Russian President Vladimir Putin Tuesday cited a 17th-Century map of Europe to back his discredited thesis that Ukraine isn't a real country, a claim that he's used to justify Russia's unprovoked invasion. But, even on the terms of Putin's thesis, there was a problem: the document clearly marks part of the territory as being "Ukraine."

So... the deflection about Russia hunting Nazis in Ukraine is hogwash?

Gee, who would have thought?

I've been saying all along that Pres Putin wants the old USSR back...

Putin is retarded, yet, he was able to use a chef and 60k convicts to defeat the national army of Ukraine backed by NATO. Maybe it is time to reset your opinion of others.

@#3 ... Putin is retarded, yet, he was able to use a chef and 60k convicts to defeat the national army of Ukraine backed by NATO ...

Has he?

That's the question.

Pres Putin's initial unprovoked assault into the sovereign country of Ukraine resulted in an abject failure. His planned ~week or two~ unprovoked invasion has lasted, how long?

In short, the comments of your current alias are substantially reducing the credibility of said alias.

Of course, if that is what it desires, so be it.

But really..

Putin is retarded, yet, he was able to use a chef ...

Defeat? Curious term. Putin's chef today:

Wagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin made the claims in a lengthy new video interview released by his press service Wednesday.

The war, he said, "was launched for the sake of denazification, and we made Ukraine a nation that is known throughout the whole world. They are like the Greeks or Romans in a period of prosperity. As for the demilitarization,' if they had 500 tanks at the beginning of the [war], they now have 5,000 of them. If 20,000 fighters skillfully fought then, now there are 400,000. How did we demilitarize it? It turns out that on the contrary, we, who the hell knows how, have militarized Ukraine."

"We came aggressively, walked all over the territory of Ukraine in our boots in search of Nazis. While we were searching for Nazis, we knocked out everyone we could. We approached Kyiv ... screwed up and withdrew. Then on to Kherson, we screwed up and withdrew," he said. "And somehow it's not shaping up for us."

Yes. That it is.

Seems you have the same level of intelligence as the Ukraine general staff - the same -------- that believed Prigozhin when he said that Wagner had run out of ammunition, then ran out of artillery shells, then that Ukraine was going to overrun their flanks in Bakhmut - all of which encouraged the ------- Ukrainians to send in more troops for the meat grinder. The result is that 1/3 of the Ukrainian army has been destroyed - along with their NATO weapons - trying to hold a city that is actually unimportant strategically - all on the false belief that Wagner was foldings.

The opposite is true and Bakhmut is now called Artemovsk - and in the meantime, the "Ukraine Spring Offensive" is as real as Steiner relieving the siege on Berlin.

And again, this is all without deploying the actual Russian military to do the fighting.

Really?

Is your current alias saying that the "actual Russian military" has not participated in Pres Putin's unprovoked invasion of a sovereign Ukraine?

"We came aggressively, walked all over the territory of Ukraine in our boots in search of Nazis."

Have they ever offered any evidence at all? Any evidence that would be so egregious that unilateral military action was justified even remotely?

The map is correct. My grandpa, who knew Ukraine's and Russia's history like a scholar told my mom and me (when I was still very young) that Russia wanted to rule Ukraine for a long time, but Ukraine didn't want to be ruled by Russia. For centuries it was part of the Kingdom of Lithuania. Then parts of Ukraine were under Poland, ... then Austro-Hungary ... Until the end of Ww1. But like that map shows, my grandpa said that "Ukrania" was a borderless steppe that for a millennia or more was "land of the Cossacks". Amazing to see an ancient map describing it exactly as my Pops said.

Wagner Group leader:

Yevgeny Prigozhin says that Russia's objectives of "denazifying" and "demilitarising" Ukraine have failed miserably "--- knows how, but we've militarised Ukraine!" pic.twitter.com/ZBIyo0Vd3A" Francis Scarr (@francis_scarr) May 24, 2023

Does the fact Prigozhin hasn't managed to "fall out of a window" after weeks of bitter criticism aimed at Putin and the Russian military mean that Putin fears him? That he could be the first domino, opening the way for others who want regime change in Russia to follow?

AU

"Does the fact Prigozhin hasn't managed to "fall out of a window"

There's still time.

Putin seemed to be happy to let Prigozhin and the Kremlin fight it out between themselves over "Who's in command?" on the front lines. We heard reports that the Russian troops were themselves confused over whose orders to follow.

For a while we thought the Kremlin had won by refusing to send ammunition to Wagners men. Prigozhin announced he was pulling his men out. But apparently that didn't happen.

So what changed? It's not like Putin to tolerate a rival.

Well at least our resident fascist supporter Claudio
got the 'Putin is crazy' part right... The rest is
wrong, as usual, but Putin IS crazy.

last I checked, the scoreboard in Ukraine reads something
like this...

Russia, over 200k dead and wounded for controlling only 17%
of Ukraine, and that percentage is sure to go down as Ukraine
begins its Spring Offensive.

Russia has lost the vast majority of its functional tanks,
around half of its attack helicopters, about a third of its fighter jets,
half of its troop carrier vehicles... Other than nukes, and
possibly submarines, they are functioning as a third world power
right now. I could easily rattle off 15 countries that would
likely kick their ass in a fight, and not even have to bring our
country into the debate.

Claudio writes like he is some right wing fascist from Latin America that did not get the memo that it was 'not' cool to like Pinochet. If he is a US resident I think he is just either really dumb or a traitor. If he is a Russian bot than he is scum. If he is a Latin right wing fascist refer to the later. Either way, he is a POS.
