"I'm fine"
A fitting epitaph.

More from the cited article...
... Once McConnell re-engaged, he responded briefly to another question about Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, a Republican; his aide needed to repeat the question to him. McConnell was then asked about former President Donald Trump, another question that had to be repeated. McConnell brushed off the question because he does not usually engage in Trump-related topics. ...

@#1 ... Retirement time... ffs ...
Probably. And I'll say the same about Sen Feinstein as well.

LOl! Couldn't happen to a better turtle.
Just a reminder that it's Moscow Mitch who is preventing Feinstein from retiring by refusing to seat a Dem replacement on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

If he has to be escorted away from the camera he needs to retire today.
The Senate is not a retirement home.

When it comes to this kind of thing I absolutely loathe those closest to these pols. It's all about power. McConnell,Feinstein, Fetterman and Biden should not be nudged/coerced into this. It probably applies to Grassley and a handful of others too.

Was curious so looked for an answer: (www.politico.com) Stephen Vladeck, a law professor at the University of Texas and an expert on constitutional law, told me that after the Sept. 11 attacks, the special Continuity of Government Commission examined the issue of incapacitated lawmakers. The panel ultimately confirmed that under the Constitution, the sole tool Congress has to oust a member is an expulsion vote, which requires a two-thirds majority.
Expulsion votes have occurred 15 times in U.S. history, and 14 of those were during the civil war, typically congress members resign or retire when there are calls to vote for Expulsion.

If the Republicans can provide a suitable replacement the Democrats will provide half the votes in the senate.

I know of two very powerful politicians who died abruptly while in office but not before saying a final sentence.
One lamented that he would never see his work completed.
The other thought of his wife and the impact his death might have on her health.
Both are admirable in there own way.
Staying in power for the sake of being in power isn't worth dying for.

Now that McConnell has turned over a new leaf, (almost) thanks to his long friendship with President Biden, I'm starting to feel a little sorry for the old man.
Since an election year is at our doorstep, I think it's safe to assume that McConnell's aides will be running the Senate minority from now on and a medicated McConnell will be propped up to say a few words only when necessary.
In short, no more press conferences.

Appears?
No....he did freeze.
Now I've heard all sorts of theories from he is having seizures from his concussion earlier in the year to a form of parkinsons where the afflicted goes stiff.

WRT McConnell retiring, a few things.
1. I don't believe he is up for reelection until 2026 2. Ky has a Dem governor who does the replacement should McConnel retire/die. 3. Ky passed a law that prevents the Dem governor from replacing McConnell with a Dem 4. I believe the Ky governor is planning on fighting that law as unconstitutional and sitting a dem if the case arises. 5. I believe the Ky governor is up for reelection this November.
So, an interesting situation, perhaps he will RBG it and die in September.
That would be fitting.

So, did he ever answer whether he's running for reelection in 2016?

Remember that time Trump mocked a disabled reporter?
Yeah, neither do I. Good thing the GOP would never elect him to the office of presidency after doing something so horrible.

In that moment, while Mitch McConnell's dying brain struggled and failed to make sense of its present reality, all the dourness was gone from his face. All the downward gravitational pull from a lifetime in the DC swamp. All the seriousness. All the scheming. All the warmongering, tyranny and abusiveness.
In that moment of amnesiac innocence, you'd never be able to tell from looking at Mitch McConnell how many people he's helped kill. How much suffering he's helped cause. How much health and thriving he's frozen out of humanity in his joyless facilitation of corporate dystopia.
All you'd see is a man. A cute, harmless, befuddled old man. All the dark, dense, contracted energy gone from his form in a sweet tender moment of intimate taste of future oblivion.

Yes, more reason to pass not only term limits, but age limits for those that serve as well. If the retirement age for the public is 67, I don't see why this can't be the new retirement age set for all elected leaders as well.
This needs to be put in place by 2025 or so, by 2030 at the latest.
America deserves not only more coherent representatives closer to their prime, but also more roll over in politicians in general, increasing the generation of new ideas, and getting rid of entrenched lifetime politicians...

Pretty much the whole batch in Washington needs to be replaced with new blood. None of them seem to know what the real needs are of their constituents, mainly because of the swamp that inhabits DC and the prevailing idea that it's about party not about the needs of the nation.

I wonder if the legendary founders ever thought their three separate branches of government were just going to end up being tools used by two political parties?
