Poll Showing Trump and Biden Are Even Was Paid for by Trump
The Wall Street Journal poll is being cited in all the mainstream media outlets, with no caveat that Donald Trump's Super PAC paid one of the pollsters.

He paid for the poll, but not the free advertising on every major news organization that spread the "news."

There have been other polls over the last few weeks. And considering all of the circumstances, many of them are still far too close for comfort.
....But there's still lots of time.

All these polls that won't matter. Over half the states won't be in contention, regardless what happens.
Where are the polls for the suburbs of Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia, as well as Maricopa County?

No ----? < sarcasm >.
They aren't even close to tied. Biden is going to win by 20 points Trump or no Trump. Overturning Roe will cost the GQP for decades electorally.
They awoke a sleeping giant. The female voter, and she is BEYOND pissed.

I still do not understand in what possible way or ways this country would be better off if Republicans got what they wanted. A more fascist, less free nation? A more divided nation? A broken nation? It seems that is genuinely what Republicans want, and I just do not get it. Or are most Republicans so stupid that they are the ones who just do not get it?

Mob rule is when you attempt an insurrection.
Like republicans in Michigan and in Tennessee and in DC.
You know, the events your cultist brethren carried out.
Which you've never condemned.

No, but some are questioning the legitimacy of that poll:
CNN desperately wanted an anti Biden narrative so what did they do? They commissioned a poll comprised of 59.7% Republicans(!) to generate a predictably bad outcome for Biden and have now blabbed about it nonstop all day.
. . .
It's even worse. Based on the excerpt you provided, it's 59% Republicans/Republican leaning and 26% Democratic/Democratic leaning. (The other 15% truly independent or who knows since 20% we're not registered voters). This means there were more than TWICE as many Republicans polled as Democrats. Reminds me of that saying; there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Perhaps needs to be updated to lies, damn lies, and CNN polls?

I'm not sure how much we can trust any of the polls right now, but having said that, I think the election will be too close for comfort.

You can't.
I don't believe any of them especially right now. They mean nothing. And if you use them it is super important that they are transparent with their methods and their politics.
And I don't vote based on the polls anyway.
As for the election being too close for comfort that depends on how good the agitation propaganda is this year.

At this point, I agree.
However, as I have noted in the past...

#26 I know you don't understand statistics Gal, but wouldn't that lopsided percentage show more pronounced in the polls?
Why do I say that?
Well here is how the poll was actually conducted....
The CNN Poll was conducted by SSRS from August 25-31 among a random national sample of 1,503 adults drawn from a probability-based panel, including 1,259 registered voters and 391 Democratic and Democratic-leaning independent voters. The survey included an oversample to reach a total of 898 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents; this group has been weighted to its proper size within the population. Surveys were either conducted online or by telephone with a live interviewer. Results among the full sample have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 points; among registered voters, the margin of sampling error is 3.6 points, and it is 6.0 for Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters. www.cnn.com

So, a particular poll.
Within two consecutive comments (#27, #28), your current alias seems to have contradicted itself, with no outside helpat all.

Yeah. Pretty much every poll I've seen has Trump and Biden tied within the margin of error, favoring Trump.
I don't understand it, but I also don't think that CNN intentionally producing poll results that favor a Trump bias.

Why would CNN desperately want an anti-Biden narrative?
Are they the new Fox News or something?
And even if so, why wouldn't the poll show Trump winning decisively instead of Haley?
I think the person most pissed off by this is going to be Trump.

I understand the parameters of this poll well enough based on the info provided. Margin of error tells the story:
"Results among the full sample have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 points; among registered voters, the margin of sampling error is 3.6 points, and it is 6.0 for Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters."
I would find the poll more convincing in the margin of error was around plus or minus 3.5 across the board.
"Why would CNN desperately want an anti-Biden narrative?"
Because they want a horse race. They want viewers and clicks.
