A man recently walked the fine line between bravery and recklessness when he confronted a bear that wandered into his campsite.

Bear.... "Ok, I'm leaving since you asked nicely. But man, eff you too!"... so he just tore his pants instead of his head off his shoulders.

That animal could understand every word, every gesture.

Must have encountered/watched people a lot. Or maybe was just the Einstein of the Bear World.

People who don't think the other mammals understand us are weird. I guess they just don't spend any time around animals, and treat their pets like slaves.

You sound like those people who walk up to a bisons in Yellowstone and get trampled.

If you anthropomorphize wild animals you're taking your life in your hands.

If you are trying to insult me... (I can't tell... just saying IF)...my only experience with pets is cats, dogs and parrots and a gawddamm monkey. They could/can understand every word and I can understand them.

But this was a wild bear... then again I guess it doesn't matter all that much.

"You sound like those people who walk up to a bisons in Yellowstone and get trampled."

I see what you're getting at, but those people are morons. Also in this case, it is the animal that walked up to people.

It doesn't look like a "campsite" or a "backyard"

Epic headline and article failure

It doesn't look like a "campsite"

Doesn't every campsite have a TV screwed to a tree?

I'm seeing some reports that it's the guy's back yard of his home.

It's ok as long as it's in Texas or Florida...

Yeah, that's some bold stupidity, right there.

That man is extremely fortunate that he is not dead.

...treat their pets like slaves.

Pets are slaves.

Mike calmly and deliberately guiding the black bear away from the group's camping area.

#racist!

That guy just ran out the nine-lives counter.

If I ever start behaving like that I hope someone gets me to see someone, cause treating that large bear like it was a recalcitrant child was insane. Standing two feet away in a narrow corridor with it, pretty much a definition of out of touch.

Anyone who hasn't watched it, check out a movie Buck.

It's a documentary about the real person The Horse Whisperer with Robert Redford was based on.

Untrained horses can be pretty dangerous. They bite and kick.

People brought horses to him as last resort to keep it and he had a natural gift of sorts working with horses.

Maybe this guy is a bear whisperer.

"Maybe this guy is a bear whisperer."

Not a great career choice.

The last bear whisperer got ate by the bears he was "whispering" to.

"Timothy Treadwell, known as the Grizzly Man, spent 13 summers living with grizzly bears in Alaska's Katmai National Park. He named and played with bears, leading to the "Treadwell Rule" to prevent human familiarity. The grizzly Man and his girlfriend were eaten alive by a bear on October 5, 2003."

The girlfriend didn't get eaten.

Not sure if either one was "eaten" but the article says both were killed.

From the audio tape that survived the attack it sounds like she may have come to his defense.

This guy was/is an idiot. That was a fair size black bear. Black bears are generally smaller than grizzlies, but way more unpredictable.

I've had a grizzly wandering around my neighborhood for a couple of weeks now... no one is going anywhere near it.
