Fewer than 50% of those eligible for Medicaid are signed up for it. More than half of those potentially eligible for unemployment insurance in 2022 did not apply because they weren't aware they were eligible. And 28% of those eligible for supplemental food assistance - colloquially known as food stamps - do not receive it. In an executive order issued in 2021, President Joe Biden directed agencies to reduce burdens and improve customer experience for government benefit programs with the aim of helping everyone who is eligible to be able to access and receive benefits.

Recent scholarship from academics and government agencies shows that paperwork burdens and informational hurdles impose a real cost on people seeking to access benefits, reducing enrollment, kicking people off of programs they're eligible for, and making it hard to learn about them in the first place. And these costs perpetuate inequality and poverty.

The Biden administration is finally trying to do something about this.

"Biden is really the first to try to tackle this as a whole in the agencies across the executive branch," said Pamela Herd, an expert on administrative burdens at Georgetown University.

This is part of Biden's hope to restore faith in government by showing that it can work for Americans.

Can anyone recall a single GOP initiative focused on using government resources (ie. the collective called the People) to specifically help those citizen/taxpayers at the lowest margins of our society and not in the top 1%?

There is a huge difference between our political parties and the Presidents each nominates. One believes in helping those whose lives need it the most and the other believes in helping those already with the most, while wrongly claiming that said help will eventually work its way downward - when it never does in the volume necessary to make any systemic impact.

Biden Making It Easier for Eligible to Get Govt. Benefits
The monster! How dare Biden try to make sure that the government helps those who need it.

The GOP knows that the only good government program is a dead government program.

Good Dem government always hands out money and influence so that sheep are well controlled and willing to vote and obey. BTW I never subscribe to tax cuts for elites unless it encourages and benefits the masses like requiring more production in the USA of required products. Any tax cut needs to dissuade bad policy.

Be assured Biden and Dems are plotting right now how to give more bennies and right to vote to illegal immigrants so even more will come to take what should be yours and for your children and grandchildren. Your safety net? What safety net? Joe Biden gave it away to buy votes.

What safety net? The one republicans have been trying to destroy since FDR.

If only you knew how confused and insane you sound.

Republicans don't even believe in "safety nets" and yet here you are whining about Joe while he is actually trying to help you. You poor dear. It must be tough getting your pants on in the mornings being this damn stupid.

It will now become MORE complicated adding more "time tax".

But it gets good headlines, and Lumpers lap it up.

Nothing gets better when trying to optimize after the release.

Oh you mean like when Trumpy said that we could do our taxes on a "postcard" before he then proceeded to give trillions away to the wealthy and then screwed the rest of us by making our taxes more complicated and rewriting the tax code to try and screw blue states?

You mean like that?

It's been a very long time but Reagan was a champion of the earned income tax credit.

Nice to see an American president care about the people rather than just himself.
