Republicans really shouldn't be allowed in government. They aren't competent.

Yeah, but they want to make lots of money and tell you what to do anyway.

Elect clowns, expect a circus.
They are completely incapable of governing.
All chaos all the time. They can't even agree between themselves so forget agreeing with the other side. The moron caucus just wants to stick their fingers in the eyes of everyone that doesn't give in to their childish tantrums. Hell, when you give them what they want, they aren't even happy with that, they just change their demands and whoop and holler all over.
Qevin let the inmates run the asylum and now he is suffering.
I am enjoying every single minute of it too.
He deserves all of it.
Shut it down. It costs money to shut down the government, then it costs money to open the government back up. In the meantime soldiers paychecks stop....how's that for supporting the troops. Government workers stop getting paid while they still have to keep working.
This will help them all during 2024.

Government workers stop getting paid while they still have to keep working.
More often they can't show up to work unless designated as essential employees, and get back pay for hours they would have but didn't have to work. Contractors have to show up on the other hand, until the contract funds run out, then they go home - no back pay for those folks for hours unworked.

Military pay is covered unless you're in the Coast Guard - DHS is affected by shutdowns.

The last big shutdown DoD was unaffected but USCG stopped getting paid. USAA and NFCU gave those folks 0% loans for their normal pay amounts, knowing that they'll get backpay eventually, but if those service members weren't members of those CUs then it was rough on them.

"This is not conservative Republicanism. This is stupidity. The idea that we're going to shut the government down when we don't control the Senate, we don't control the White House. These people can't define a win. They don't know how to take yes for an answer. It's a clown show. You keep running lunatics. You're going to be in this position."

Unfortunately for Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY), MAGAts have taken over the GOP, and they've repeatedly shown themselves to be the dumbest of Americans.

The nice thing about the shutdown, it will stop all federal investigations.

That's why they're doing it. Every thing republicans do is an effort to wipe trump's sloppy ass. Nothing they do is an effort to uphold their oaths of office.

This situation is the further extension of Karl Rove's drive in the 1990's for the GOP to retain a permanent majority in Congress and in state legislatures by gerrymandering election districts. We see the result of that strategy today, in the form of unknowing, unaware childish rabble being elected to office because they are on the 'red' or 'blue' team, and for very little reason beyond. Hell, most GOPers in office today call Ronald Reagan a RINO, think the Bush family sold out the US to the Arab oil interests (which they might have done) and that a certain fat orange insurrectionist criminal is one of the greatest leaders in the history of this country.
Imagine is all voting districts were drawn using the simplex algorithm so as to balance population and nothing more than head count. Our political landscape would be quite different than it is now. Well, one can dream...

Tell us you don't know about "essential" without using that word.
Jack Smith wouldn't miss a beat if the government shut down. His funding continues, regardless.

Yeah!
And also you don't have to pay any of your bills, rents or mortgages anymore!

One thing is for sure.
Shutting down the government won't affect the members of Congress.
Otherwise it would have been passed January 1st, 8am.

John Fetterman reveals how Republicans can get him to wear a suit to work
In a press release issued by the senator's office on Wednesday, Fetterman said that "if those jagoffs in the House stop trying to shut our government down, and fully support Ukraine, then I will save democracy by wearing a suit on the Senate floor next week."

Why do the Republicans hate the Federal Govt and government workers? I'll tell you why... Because the Federal Government represents one of the Last Bastions of good, high paying, Middle Class jobs, with decent benefits...
In the government, if you stay long enough, you get ---good insurance ---a good 401k ---a PENSION ---numerous days off, starting from 4 hours per PP (2 wk pay period), going up to 6 hours per PP after 3-4 years, and going up again to 8 hours per PP after 15 years in Federal Service. ---decent sick leave accrual, at 4 hours per PP for the extent of Federal Service.
And this is why the GOP and their masters (corporate CEO's and rightwing business entities like the Chamber of Commerce) absolutely HATE government...
Because it shows that treating workers like REAL HUMAN BEINGS actually WORKS! Because it shows America and workers everywhere what they COULD HAVE, if only they stood up and collectively demanded better pay and benefits...and the rich and their political lackeys, ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT!

I am sure that the republit ards goal is this, but what will happen is that the DOJ investigations will continue since there is already a time table for prosecution. They, just like thousands of other federal employees will work without pay until the --------- in the GOP pass funding bill.
They don't care if the soldiers get paid or not or what harm is done to federal employees, so long as the orange traitor is appeased.

So Mom snf Dad won't get their SS this month because Republicans can't or won't consider that they have been fooled over and over again by GQP leaders. They stll listen to the same people who have been wrong about everything for 30 years.

They created a Frankenstein Monster and now are realizing the consequences of not being able to control it. Ultimately, MAGA and Trumpism has always been about chaos and anarchy.

You know it's like climate change. It's really not so bad once you get used to it. Right?
In fact if you think about it's actually good for America!
Just think.
First we need to be on a diet. Everyone needs to diet every now and then. I hear it actually makes you live longer to eat less.
Second. If the government shuts down that's it! We're done here. It means no one has to pay anyone anything they owe anymore! Right?
I mean if the government decides it doesn't have to pay it's bills why should we? They set the example for all of us.
Think of how much money we can all save in just one month! And we don't have have to go to work any more. It's like getting Covid without getting sick and all the fighting over vaccines and masks! (And all the dying on ventilators).
Right maga maroons? Can I get an amen brothers!?
